Why don't parents buy safer cars for their teens instead of trucks/sports car etc.?

do they really need a truck? sports car? i mean i wouldn't want to drive/get in to a truck with like a bunch of teens and some in the back.. only in America are people stupid enough to do that. and i thought it ended in the 80's but do people still really do that to go to parties or whatever?

the cars i'd suggest for teens are probably like

Volvo S60, Camry, etc. I am definitely not a fan of particular small car or big car.

no Mini Cooper please.. they will go flying off a cliff with even if a civic hit you. and no big suv because i simply don't think they can handle it if they just got their license. they are more likely to cause accidents in innocent people than their own.

plus..one more thing.. do i really need to mention it? wear the darn sitbelt!

  1. I know plenty of friends that drive "safe" vehicles. I drive a Ford Ranger b/c i need it to tow stuff, haul all kinds of stuff.

  2. why don't the kids just buy their own cars problem solved

  3. We don't all have enough money to be picky, you take what you can get.

  4. I thin k your over reacting! think about it. Just keep your kids safe (if you have any) and don't worry about other people.

  5. Mine is even better. My parents won't buy me any vehicle at all. I will have to hard earn and buy my own...

  6. Yeah I think it's stupid too.  Lots of students at my high school have things like Silverados, Blazers, and Explorers.  I don't understand why parents get these because they roll over so easily and they get horrible gas mileage.  However, I'd say the majority don't drive vehicles like that.  Most kids (at my school anyway) drive things like Tauruses, Luminas, and Camrys, which are all fairly practical and safe.  I guess some parents are just stupid.  My parents got me a '98 Volkswagen Jetta when I turned 16.  I got sick of it and bought my own car a year later ('97 BMW 740i; hot car, but I couldn't afford the maintenance and insurance), then I just recently traded that for a brand new Volkswagen Rabbit and I really like it.  Good gas mileage, incredibly safe, easy to park, and fun to drive.  And yeah, I actually pay for it myself.

  7. I am an australian and feel why buy them a car at all.   Let them get a job and pay for it themselves and regardless of what it is then they will treat it will respect because their hard earnt money has paid for it.

  8. You really don't know anything at all about cars, do you?

Mini Coopers are among the safest cars on the road.  They out perform trucks and SUV's in crash tests.  In a Mini, you also have the advantage of accident avoidance.  It's nimble enough to avoid a potential accident where a larger car can't get out of it's own way.

Do some research before saying something so silly.
