  1. i dont know why they have to have all those guts, and i agree with you, why is al gore kiling all those cows?

  2. Economics, plain and simple. Don't be so naive, it just hurts more...

  3. Well think about what they would have to do to put the cows to sleep - poison them. Do you want to eat a poisoned cow (if you were one who ate cows) I know I don't.

My cousin is a rancher and just last week we had this conversation. The most humane way to kill the cows is to herd them in calmly and when they get to the front of the line a huge metal stake comes down and hits them in the top of the head. The cow never knows what hit it, it does not have time to panic. When the other cows suspect something is wrong they begin to panic and that traumatizes them. As cruel as it sounds, it really is the best way. Although some slaughter houses do still shoot the cows and it usually upsets all the other cows inline.

I guess it's like if you were thinking about a human. If you saw your death coming or sensed danger it would be a much worse death than if you had no idea and it was over before you could realize what was happening.

  4. low budget

  5. You see, meat suppliers want to cut costs. Therefore, by confining the animals into small, unsanitary areas, and killing them in the simplest manner available, they accomplish their goal. This is one reason I choose to stay away from meat. Euthanasia would probably be too costly for them.

  6. I don't think there is any way to kill anything humanly

  7. yeah, like why do they wipe someones arm off with alchohol before injecting him with lethal poison?... they do!

and they do kill cows quick and painless...

  8. its not cost effective for the company to spend that much money to kill an animal

but i sure wish they would

  9. sadly enough, it's because the other methods of killing them are not "cost effective" enough.  they used to shoot cows with a single shot to the head, but now the bullets are considered too expensive.  how sad is that?  putting them to sleep apparently takes too long.

  10. This is a very good question. But why not ask the other question. Why rear animals for food ? They tell us that man's digestive tract is designed to be omnivorous. But does breeding anmals for meat make economic sense ?

A lot of arable land is utilised to grow animal feed. It is an established fact that if food crops were grown on the same land it would be a much more energy efficient use of the land. 10 acres of land can grow crops to feed 100 people for a year. The same 10 acres can provide 10 cows with feed for a year. These 10 cows would feed 100 people for one month. Australia last week admtted that the wind and gases passed by their cows are contributing to global warming. More evidence of sub-optimal use of the world's limited resources.

The above figures may not be 100% accurate but they give an economic justfcation for why the world should be vegetarian.

Taking any life, human or animal ,is difficult to justify on moral grounds. When mother nature has provided us with more efficient sources of protein (soya) I would say eat meat only if you live in the african bush and have no other food source.

  11. oh! y cant u JUST turn vegetarian
