Why don't people in GA use their turn signals?

I live in the Savannah area and people never use their turn signals. No wonder my insurance rates went up, after moving from Dayton, to Savannah. Believe it or not, they just passed the law, to where you must yeld over a lane, when passing a cop car, with it's emergency lights on. And no one is doing it. They must be the last state to do make that law. I hope the new driver's ed law, will help the kids teach their parents how to drive.

You wonder why car manufacturers just don't make the signal controls an option on vehicles sometimes! Here's a trick, watch the tires of the other vehicles, the car won't turn if the the tires are straight. Same for them slowing, the tires will too. As far as driving with the flow, keep your space so you always have somewhere to move to when someone does something stupid.

1) People are lazy - Consider the proliferation of automatic transmissions despite all of their disadvantages. Some cars have cruise control, automatic headlights and rain-sensing windshield wipers. God forbid that you ever have to touch any vehicle controls and actually do something manually!

2) People are arrogant - They are entitled to change lanes whenever they darn well please and it is YOUR responsibility to avoid them. After all, the whole world revolves around them.

3) People are stupid - using a turn signal requires them to either hang up their cell phone, stop applying make-up, or cease whatever other distraction they are engaged in.

it happens here in ohio too!! and they wonder why there's so much road rage.

i almost rearended a guy yesterday  for that very reason! we had a big snow/ice storm yesterday and the roads were slick. i almost wish i didn't get stopped in time just so i could say "it's not the 1930's you dang idiot use your signals!" but then i would have had a beat up car and higher insurance to pay!

Because most of them are products of Georgia public schools.   You wouldn't want them to strain their brain,   would you?

Probably for same reason drivers don't use their turn signals in Illinois... nobody is forcing them to do so. There are other reasons... with a cell phone in the left hand and the other steering while holding a Big Mac there are no more hands to operate the turn signal stalk. Yesterday, I was trying to drive on a snowy road when the vehicle in front of me wandered into my lane with no hint of where it was going. Fortunately, there was enough traction to brake, otherwise something  else would have broken.  You can't count on courtesy these days, so just watch out for the other guy.

If you are serious about making things better, apply pressure to the local law enforcement agencies. It is their jobs to enforce the traffic laws.
