I think that part of the problem is up until now it was done

more on a voluntary basis.  Now that its mandatory, peo-

ple are running around like a chicken without its head.

I really don't think its out of laziness so much, but out of

fear.

Some people is not into recycling.

At major train station, there's Newspaper Recycling Bin, however New Yorkers put garbage in it.

Same for Blue Recycling Bin or trash can with hole to indicate BOTTLES or CAN.

At Metropolitan Museum of Art's Roof Garden and Public Cafeteria, visitors always thru un non-recycleable into Blue Bin or recyclable bottles into trash.

Just remember top/lid cannot be recycle.

it is too hard for most people to take at least 5 minutes out of their whole day to recycle. a lot of people don't understand the environmental impact of everything that they do. that is why environmentalists and people know how much recycling helps should try to teach those that don't understand why they should recycle. the first step though, is teaching younger people from early childhood to love the environment and to recycle and protect it. if we can do that then all will be good. the first step to a clean world is to teach. don't hit the world by storm, instead, start with smaller groups. these teachings could be the fine line between killing or saving the planet.

Recycling certain causes more harm than good.

It takes 2.5 times more energy and chemicals to recycle cardboard and paper into usable products than the process that made the item in the first place,  

Plastic ,same story it takes 3 times the amount of energy and chemicals to recycle plastics as it does to make the original product.  Not t mention 2-3 times the ammount of chemical waste.

The US govt gives subsidies of 8 BILLION dollars a year to recycling that means money out of you pocket to private recycling companies. . So recycling puts all of us into negative numbers on energy and resources and money.  The only materials that are cost and energy smart for recycling are metals and yard waste.

People are lazy but you can also blame in on the government. I live in British Columbia, Canada. Here we are way better at this then in most places in the US. This is probably due to the Government setting up programs and  ads to encourage it.

The reason people don't recycle is because sometimes (if you live in the country) the recycling truck dosn't come to your house, and you are not sure of where to take the recycled materials.

I don't know why. I do!! If you are organized it is actually quite easy. I get asked all the time why I have 4 trash cans, hee hee. There is one for trash, one for cans, ones for glass and one for plastic.
