  1. There are a combination of factors.

    1) EVOLUTION - when there is scarcity of resources, the people who get their first get them, this resulted an evolutionary development for fast walkers to be survivors, until fat wallets and, hence, fast cars took over. Our evolutionary path now leads to a genetic predisposition fro driving rather than walking.

    2) ECONOMICS - by making cars and fuel so cheap in relative terms, certain individuals have became unbeleivably rich, while modes other than walking become "affordable".

    3) ENTROPY - the less people walk for above mentioned reasons, the more muscles waste away and body mass increases making it more challenging physically, resulting in even short journeys of a few hundred metres being next to impossible.

    4) ECONOMIC - even when the price of driving increases, the physical effects described above, combined with capital investments made, discourage walking.

    5) FASHION - the most expensive and therefore the best  footwear is practically impossible to walk in for anything more than a few yards, so why bother.

  2. because people are too lazy

  3. time constraints and pick pocketers =]

  4. Road fumes and bad drivers who think the road is supported solely by fuel taxes and thus theirs by right.     When I walk home at dusk I can see the blanket of dirty haze emanating from the roadway.   Riding a bike, I can get through the busy areas quickly or take a back route that's a little longer but healthier.

  5. i walk.

  7. People dont walk anymore because of the latest technology has so many alternatives that are fast.Because of techonology they prefer going in some super speed vehicle than to walk. plus people are getting more and more lazy day by day because of mordern Inventions. Thus, they would not prefer walking.

  8. Most of our cities and town are not pedestrian friendly.  New developments are built without sidewalks.  Retail is built along highways instead of in neighborhoods.  Affordable housing is build far from where people work.

  9. If everybody started walking, then they would tax us to walk.

  10. it is the slowest transport...

they all think that they do have a car and there is no reason for walking...

  11. Simple... (Time management) But, I do believe a lot of people still go on walks!

  12. It takes 20 minutes to get to school by car, 1 hour 30 minute by bicycle, and 3 hours 15 minutes walking. I'm not going to spend 1/3 of my day getting to and from school
