  1. While my school does recycle paper, we don't do much else. However, on Wednesday my school is "going green." I don't really know the details right now, but whatever we're doing, it'll be better than having cardboard boxes for the paper.

  2. Mine does. You should start a recycling service in your school. Put bins out for plastic, paper, and cans in the lunch room and then just a cardboard box for paper in each classroom.

  3. hmm, my school recycles.

i guess other schools just don't feel like they need to bother.

  4. don't know why they don't recycle but at my daughter's school, I asked that they save the aluminum cans for me.  I take them to the recycling station and give the money back to the school.

  5. Some schools recycle which is a VERY good thing, but see my school and lots of other schools don't because they don't have the time to sort everything that has been recycled!  Soo at my school system I want to start a recycling program but I am not a social person soo maybe if you want schools to you could try and help!

  6. My school doesn't have recycling at all. I was on student council and we tried to persuade the principal to get recycling, but he refused.

  7. I think the reason they don' t recycle is because not many kids will use it. about a week ago my school brought in a recycle tub to see if it was worth it and let me tell you most kids didn't take it very seriously. it is sad but true i wish it was different.

  8. The schools i went to had recycling containers, but no one ever talked about it and many times i would see people put their empty water bottle in the trash can instead on the plastic recycling container (that were sitting right next to each other).

I dont think that schools teach the reasons for recycling. My daughters pre-k recycles a lot, they have a drop of day for families to bring in bulk recyclables once a month. They even got a local amuzement park to donates tickets for each of the children that donated throughout the year. I think more school would if there were more teachers willing to teach the reason why we should. I think that most kids are naive to the problems our landfills cause. Also, most children dont think that the trash they personally throw away adds up to that much.

Schools need to educate their teachers, those teachers can then educate their students.

  9. My kid's school recycles, and sometimes they send the 'garbage' and leftover packaging home with the kids so we can recycle it here.. makes a mess in the lunch containers as they are kindergartens, but better than all in the garbage can.  Surprisingly, most of them know... I'm proud to say my 4 year old knows the difference between paper, plastic, tin and 'food waste' and knows where it goes at our house.
