Why don't skinny palm trees break even with strong winds?????

In california we have these skinny , super tall palm trees. we've had descent strong winds at times over the years. and those trees never fall. why? i thought they would snap easily

  2. Deep root system! Trees with deeper root systems hold up better in winds then trees with shallow root systems.

  3. They are pretty elastic, and so just bend and sway in strong winds - not snap
