Why don't some buttons on my camera not work?

The button to view the pictures and the button to go up doesn't work anymore, they were working fine this morning. What happened, and what can i do?

First check your batteries. When they are low, your camera will begin to lose function and since viewing photos takes a lot of power, that's one of the first. Autofocus also goes quickly.

Second, make sure there is no dirt around the buttons or slightly under them. If you feel a bit confident, take a q-tip, put some alcohol on it and clean around the buttons (make sure it's not dripping wet, just damp).

If it's still not working after checking those two things, you may need to have your camera professionally cleaned and/or repaired. You could have dirt UNDER the buttons you can't get to or the contacts may be bad.

not all buttons work in all modes.

are you sure you didnt change the settings to something that doesnt allow those buttons to work?
