Why don't some people believe in global warming?

Is there a theory that I missed out on, or are skeptics just ignoring the truth? Not to be mean...I've just always been curious. Maybe you people will change my mind if you give a good enough answer (I'm a strong believer--good luck!)

The problem is its still a theory... I do not and will not call a theory, a fact.  When only one side of the story is being told... someone is not telling the truth!

Did you believe the makers of Oxycontin when they showed research that proved this drug was not even habit forming. I mean they had scientific research that proved it.

Now of course we know that this drug was highly addictive and its been removed from the market. It turns out that they suppressed research that showed it was going to cause addiction and only put out research that stated the opposite of what was the truth.

  Were the people who believed the research just smarter than the people that did not believe it?

Don't just blindly believe things just because its politically correct or because it puts you in the majority or makes you feel morally superior.

The truth is nobody knows for sure if Global warming is real let alone what the cause might be if it is true. I admit this makes me feel uneasy that is the limit of our knowledge makes me uneasy but better to face the facts than bury your head in the sand.

Let me point out that I am a skeptic.

You are mislead on certain information.

People say the polar bears are dying, the ice is melting, there are more hurricanes and the climate is changing.They are taking this as proof that global warming is caused by man. It isn't, its only proof that global warming is happening which it is!

I have my reasons to dispute the thing saying that CO2 is causing global warming.

There is no proof presented that Co2 is a greenhouse gas.

I assume you have seen graphs going back many hundred thousand years where it shows the coloration between CO2 and temperature. You must have been mislead by people saying that CO2 causes temperature to rise. But you must ask yourself, "how the h**l does 300 ppm of CO2 get into the atmosphere to cause temperature rise" Hmmmm.... maybe its because of life breathing CO2 out? No, its a few ppm in too short of a time for that much CO2 to be breathed out by life on earth. So... What if temperature caused CO2 rise? Now we are getting somewhere..... Let me start this by saying, naturally 95% of the CO2 is in earth's water. You should know that there are warming and cooling cycles in the earth and we are currently in a warming cycle. These cycles are caused by the suns activity level.

Here is how it goes:

Earth's average temperature increases including water

As the water's temperature increases, the water is unable to hold as much CO2 as it can when its cooler.

The water releases the CO2 into the atmosphere.

So basically, CO2 rises around 600 -1200 years after temperature. Why so many years? I guess at some warming periods warmed rather slowly which caused CO2 to rise much later. And sometimes CO2 rised right away due to faster increasing temperature.

Needless to say, polar bear population is increasing not decreasing.

like some other fellow intelligent people said, it's basically more of a pattern that the earth goes through every X number of years (decades/centuries/etc). it's just unfortunate that people like to blame each  other and themselves for every thing that happens. don't get me wrong i'm sure some of our polluting may be speeding the process up, but it's only temporary and everything is starting to settle down (global cooling) which in the next thousand years we will be entering another ice age. everything is hot before it cools down, remember that.

The way you are talking about human made global warming is like you are talking about religion.  Strong belief is how Christians describe themselves.

Man made global warming is not verifiable science - unlike other science claims can be independantly verified.  The evidence for AGW is that a lot of people believe in it.

Why did a few thinking people not believe Hitler when most of Germany was following him in a lemming like devotion in  believing in his concepts of Aryan superiority?  Like today's Global Warming Fascists, Hitler used all kinds of scientific data to back up his theories as well.

Some people are able to look past the rhetoric, the passionate speeches and doctored up data to see that those who would like to conquer the world with their Global Warming Fascism are very much like Hitler and are using precisely the same tactics.

What "truth"?  Global warming is the made up idea that man is causing the weather to warm up around the globe and if we don't stop now, there will be a rapid rise in temperatures and it'll be 100 degree even in the North Pole.  

Problem.  Every solution to global warming means giving things up, and paying lots of money to do it.  One man responsible for the annoying hysteria is Al Gore who owns private companies and wants everyone to pay him something called a "carbon tax."  A carbon tax is some nebulous thing we are to pay for driving to work and lighting our homes at night.   And while we are told to reduce our consumption of resources-- which I have no problem with.  These people; Al Gore, the entertainment industry, Barack Obama, many state governors, will continue to suck up the oil and run the heat or air conditioner as they please, running around in jets and limousines, while telling everyone else to conserve or pay carbon offset taxes.   Or pay them anyway, no matter how little you drive or heat your home.

One senator wants to hit new mothers with a $5,000 fee for each children she has, plus have her pay some $800 a year that child lives under that roof.  His point is that children have a large carbon footprint and instead of a mother being rewarded, (baby showers) she should pay instead.  Global Warming fear merchants are not pro-earth, they are anti human.

It's called a "carbon footprint."  Another useless term.  And since I'm a carbon based unit, every step I take is a carbon footprint.  Right?  

We've had predictions from the fear merchants before and they've never come true, Global warming, global cooling, Y2K, color coded terrorist alerts which were just as vague as carbon credits, holes in the ozone and acid rain.  All gone, no problem, nothing happened.  

Coffee is good for you, coffee is death in a cup, chocolate is good, bad, the dye in a bottle of hard liquor can kill you-- if you drink 500 bottles a day.  Artificial sweeteners cause cancer, that's because they give human-sized portions to rats.  

Soon it all turns to white noise and you tune it out.

The reason I do not believe in the theory is there is no evidence to support the claims.

Some interesting facts.

1. During most of the past 2,000 years, the temp has been about the same or higher. Currently, we are barely over the average for the last 2,000 years.

2. During the medieval warm period (820 – 1040 AD), Greenland supported farming. Those areas previously farmed are now covered in glaciers. Obviously the melting and reformation of glaciers is a cyclical occurrence.

3. The earth experienced a little ice age which ended around the late 1860's or so. This is about the time man started recording temperatures. This would be like measuring a lake depth after a severe drought, then worrying about it flooding as it rose to normal levels.

4. The earth has been warming for the last 10,000 years, since the last major glacier time period. Also, for most of the last 1 billion years, the earth had NO glaciers or ice coverage.

5. The AGW theory states that CO2 is the primary driver of temperature. They arrived at this idea because they did not know of anything else which could cause it. But during the 70's and during the current decade, temperatures dropped while CO2 continued to rise. This means that natural occurrences are driving temp, not CO2.

6. The Pacific Decadal Oscillation and sun spots provides a much better correlation to earths' temperature than CO2 levels ever have.

7. Polar Bears are experiencing a population boom. Coke sales in the arctics are through the roof. Polar Bears have been around for thousands of years, and remember, we are only at the average for the last 2,000 years. They lived through all the previously warmer climates.

10. Yes we emit CO2 into the atmosphere and it is a greenhouse gas, but, we only contribute about .28% of all the greenhouse effect. Water vapor makes up about 95% of the greenhouse effect. CO2 and other trace gases round out the greenhouse gases at about 5% for all of them. Of that 5%, only 3% is CO2, and most of that is natural. Again, our contribution to the greenhouse effect is a paltry .28%

11. The spread of disease is not attributed mainly to temperature. If this were the case, Florida would be a giant festering disease ridden cesspool. Economic standing is the primary determining factor in the spread of disease. Poor cultures can not fight the disease or eradicate the pests like more successful nations.

The earth has warmed and cooled many many times throughout history. All of a sudden this time it has to be caused by us. Come on! On top of already being knee deep in BS, they've also managed to convince folks that warming is bad. It wasn't bad for people a thousand years ago, or a thousand years before that . No cold is bad, as is clearly demonstrated by the little ice age. They want you to believe anything they say. Go ahead let them control you if that is what makes you feel good and gives meaning to your life. Truth gives my life meaning.

Because the alarmists twist the evidence to fit the theories.  Then, when they are wrong, they adjust their theories to try and keep the theory alive.  This is bad logic and REALLY bad science.
