Some people say they don't read novels, but will read nonfiction such as biographies. But they can enjoy a movie that's fictional in nature.

  1. because reading books takes too long.  the people who watch the movie in lieu of reading the book are the same people that go to the drive-thru and get mad when it isn't ready when they get to the second window...

  2. some people just don't like to read... or maybe can't.

  3. I was going to say that maybe they don't enjoy reading or don't have time, but then I read the details.  I know there are some people who just don't care that much for novels/fiction but if it's a movie, they'll watch it because it's a lot faster moving and they don't have to spend as long reading and absorbing things. It's more entertaining for them to see it on the screen than to use their imagination.

  4. Everyone loves seeing a movie on the big screen. Due to the high cost though the (movie makers) cant put everything in a movie that was in the novel, and leave parts on the cutting room floor that maybe you would of loved to read about in a novel.

With a novel you can use (your imagination) not what the movie studios think is best for you in most cases anymore in an hour and half. What we pay for a movie would buy a nice novel we can read over and over and at our leisure.

I like a good novel that has adventure, suspense, mystery, passion, and humor at times.

  5. Some dont like to read, they need the visual to be able to comprehend the story.

Personally, I have an active imagination so reading appeals to me more than movies.

  6. I've always wondered that...I think maybe it's because some people don't have vivid imaginations and need the stimulation from audio visual sources in order to be entertained...I, however, have a vivid imagination and nothing Hollywood comes up with could compare with what's in my mind!

  7. Many people can't read more than simple English. Others have Attention Deficit Disorder and can't sit still long enough to read a novel. They can sit through a movie because nearly every second it's different.

  8. My friend cannot stand to read anything but Kerrang magazine - whatever that is i say. i think she's too lazy to pick up a book and would rather something that doesn't envolve using your brain and just prefers things to gossip about while she is on msn, either that or she just hasn't tried many books. don't worry though, i've got her hooked on twilight lol

  9. Because of the International ban on novels?

  10. From a pragmatic point of view, novels take a lot of time to read, when a movie can condense it down into a few hours.  My favorite dyslexic likes to tell me that he'd rather wait for the movie version of anything (including the phone book) to come out than have to struggle with reading it.

  11. I don't know why that is,a lot of the story is usually left out in movies, its pretty apparent when there are huge holes in the plot, that drives me nuts,I guess it costs to much to have a story make sense, just throw in an explosion to shut people up LOL.Very few movies can match the novel,No country for old men was pretty close, have you read or seen that one?they did a pretty good there.I think in today's rushed society people just don't have the time to sit and read a novel, maybe that's why our children fall behind other countries in academics, there's to many distractions to sit down and enjoy a good book

  12. Maybe a Novel takes them to long?
