  1. Oh... wow that was soo sweet! Theres no words to even explain... there are real tears in my eyes!

  2. That was touching. It shows that the Lightning are a team with character

  3. That's one of the sweetest things I have ever read in my life. Honest to God.

The whole Tampa organization should be EXTREMELY proud of themselves. Because when you think about it......they didn't have to pick him at all.....they could have used that pick and chose a healthy boy that they could actually use.

    Great Story.

  4. That really was a good story that is so cool that they picked him in the first place and then traded Boyle for his brother.

  5. That is such a touching story. Tampa Bay is awesome for doing that

  6. the Lightning organization continues to improve their overall grade in my book. you can't blame them for effort. they're doing all the right things. good luck to them, and i hope it pans out. and they're backing up their words w/ actions, and their actions, w/ MORE actions.

agree w/ Joe about the media. being a veteran of OIF, I'm disgusted w/ most (if not all) forms of mainstream media; regardless of political leanings (right or left).

i don't want to hear about ANYONE's divorce. thousands of people get divorced monthly. yet recently, i only hear about 2 couples whom i will NEVER interact w/; NOR want to. similarly, Britney Spears' actions have no more of an impact on my life, as any OTHER 20 - something single female in ANY state or country who has more than one kid, and decides to party. i resent that someone has decided that this is important to me. unfortunately my one voice cannot overturn millions of dollars that drown out my voice and shout over me.

i only watch the media to get an idea of what the "average North American" is blindingly allowing themselves to be spoonfed. That person generally allows the TV to make their decisions. propoganda in its most subtle form.

cue the thumbs down and conspiracy theories. no, i'm not a cult leader. (but i play one on TV. lol)

  7. That's an act of greatness. They didn't have to pick him, they could have just read his letter and not thought about him ever again... But they put him on their team.

    Such a nice story.

  8. Good ownership, good people.  Too bad Barry Melrose has to ruin it.

  9. this was the same story i was gonna put on yahoo on the day of the draft but decided not too cause i didnt want to lose any points, of course the article would not have been this one (cause its dated 7-7-08)

  10. Outstanding story.

  11. Thanks for posting.  This should have been national news.  It's too bad, it slipped thought the cracks.  You better believe if an NBA or MLB team would have done this, it would have been.

    Very Cool.

  12. This is the kind of story that sets hockey apart. It is not widely reported because it is not sensationalized enough. No backstabbing or stuff like that. This is one that gets added on as the last story of the day to leave you on a positive note after all the bad stuff they just told you. But great story none the less

  13. Great story indeed, thank you for sharing. You don't mind if I blog it on some other websites I am on, do you?

  14. I have a good feeling this move helped a few free agents with their decisions to play for Tampa Bay.

  15. I love reading stories like this because they prove that the hockey organization is one of the best if not the best.

  16. wow. speechless

  17. GREAT story. These types of stories don't get reported because the people love to read aboot steroids in baseball, Arod sleeping with Madonna and football players being arrested for DUI's.Nothing "s**y" aboot this great story to the people.

That's why when you turn on the News its 95 % BAD news.

  18. That is a great story! I don't think that anything like that will ever happen in any other sports! GO TAMPA BAY! GO HOCKEY!

  19. It's sad but sweet

  20. It shows that money isn't everything!  It's always been said that hockey players are classier than others - this proves it - again.

Correct me if I am wrong but, if they don't sign him to a contract in 2 years (and it goes to reason that they won't) doesn't he go back into the draft?  He could be picked up again in 2010!

  21. I grew up with a kid who was a great swimmer, and had the same condition and had to start before high school, its extremely tough for the kids, but i wish him the best of luck, it was a real class act by the lightning

  22. Ironically enough we now have his brother as well.

  23. Wow, what a great story. Everybody wins.

Tampa Bay Lightning are a first class organization!

  24. that stories amazing, really sad too. Thats awesome for tampa bay to give up a draft pick for a guy that cant even play.

  25. aw, what a sweet story. wow

  26. Top notch!!!!

That put a little spot in my heart for those Boltz!!

"I'm Ron Burgundy and Stay Classy Tampa Bay"

  27. Thanks for sharing that story.  I actually got a little "Rudy" knot in my throat.
