  8. Taxi cabs do have seat belt but public buses dont because......

Compartmentalization, a concept seen frequently on commercial airplanes, involves seating passengers in rows of padded seats with cushioned backs.

The belief is that during frontal or rear impact, the most common types of wrecks involving buses, passengers would either be pushed back into their seats or thrown forward into the padded backs of the row ahead.

The use of seat belts might require stiffer seats, which would negate the theory of compartmentalization.

It is also feared that some passengers would receive internal injuries from seat belts through a process called submarining, the tendency for a body to slide downwards during impact.

  9. Taxi cabs for the most part do...Buses do not mainly because they stop frequently and usually travel at a slow speed. Taxi cabs are known for zooming through traffic

  10. Buses do not simply because of the cost.  Campaigns in the USA are trying to change this...especially on school buses.

  11. Taxi cabs do.  It would be impossible to police public buses and the idea is that they are normally driven at relatively low speed by professional drivers who are less likely to crash...

  12. Taxi cabs have seat belts, buses will eventually have them, but how about people who have to stand on buses?
