Why don't the Olympics allow competitors to face off against the best of each country regardless of gender.?

Why do they separate them based on gender? Why cant the best of America face the best from say china regardless of gender.

I would really like to see some male vs female boxing or weight lifting.

That might work in shooting, archery, or even equestrian, but not in sports like track, swimming, or lifting.   Women wouldn't meet the qualifying standards.

As for boxing and wrestling, you have the strength difference due to hormones.   Women wouldn't get far enough in the qualifying tournaments to make the Olympics.   Intellectual equality is fine, but you can't fight biology.

Because male and female strengths are different.

It is because male are usually better than female in sports. Males are usually stronger than females

i think the only kind of thing you could do would be in team sports having mixed teams.Or in some of the relays have mixed sprint relays and swimming relays that would be kinda cool.But to put women and men boxers against each other would not be a good idea.

i think that's something we might see in the future, but as it stands men far outdo women in many sports (swimming, running, etc) ... and that's mainly due to their muscle composition

Because men and women have different phenotype features that enables each gender to have an advantage over another agenda in one sport.

I mean it would be unfair if women were competing against men in boxing, weight lifting, judo and the in the 100m where obviously men have a genetic advatage in those sports.

Other reason are more socially constructed to suit the norm of gender roles. I mean it would be weird if men were competing in arithmitic gynamsitc.

But they have mix doubles in table tennis, badminton and tennis
