  1. Why do hackers use yellow balls?  Why do ladies use pink balls (sometimes).  Why do mini golf courses use blue, green, red, pink, yellow, and any other color?  The answer is simple.....

The more colorful the ball, the less likely you are to concentrate on the actual shot.  You can sit there and say "wow look at this yellow ball," instead of saying "huh maybe i should actually try to hit this ball on the green for once today...."  You will never see a good golfer use a yellow ball man.  Its just not right.

  2. Because white golf balls are tradition and are easier to see in grass.

  3. Because they have a lot of paid staff to track there balls along the course called stewards and spectators who will quickly point out a ball.

  4. Paula Creamer currently uses pink balls.  Some PGA players several years ago used black Nike balls in PGA events as part of a promotion.

The real reason virtually all professional golfers use white balls is that most golfers find non-white balls distracting.

  5. look at the rule book there bud

  6. Because they receive huge numbers of free white balls and have no reason to use yellow ones.

  7. the pros dont use yellow golf balls because the colour is distracting to the players.

  8. Yellow golf balls are not traditional, and the professionals would rather not be distracted by a change. They are legal however, but tour level balls cannot be found in yellow usually. In the past some LPGA players used pink golf balls to help the cause of breast cancer.

  9. It is a tour rule.  Just as the players can't wear shorts

  10. They are not photogenic, ??

  11. The reason pros don't use yellow balls is because they use a ball with a softer cover than normal. This is how they produce the backspin you see on TV. It allows them to control the type of shot that they want. The grooves in the clubs grip the softer cover. These balls only come in white and are much more expensive

  12. because they know how to play the game and yellow balls are for hackers

  13. the balls that the pros play don't come in yellow.

  14. Because only hackers use yellow balls. The top manufacturers dont make them!!!!

  15. Mainly because white has been the preference through tradition. It just fits the eye better. However, the USGA/R&A List of Conforming Golf Balls includes the approved colors of white, orange, green, yellow, pink, blue, silver, peach, beige and purple.  The list has an effective date of February 6, 2008 and is updated the first Wednesday of every month.

  16. Golf is full of wacky rules.  For instance, the NCGA (Northern California Golf Association) may have different rulese for their tournaments than the PGA does.  If I'm not mistaken, I remember someone telling me that there is a rule that disallows PGA players in using a non-white golf ball.  I hope this is helpful, but more research is warranted.  I would have to see the rule in writing to fully know that it's true.

  17. Traditional Color....

Pros can ask for whatever color they want....

And no the rule book for the PGA has no such ruling restricting ball color

  18. They all have to be White it is the rules of the tour

  19. to bright for the eyes

  20. Yellow golf balls are traditionally golf balls used for the driving range.
