Why don't the candidates talk about alternative energy sources?

Obama and McCain want change. But the REAL solution to the economy is to get rid of oil and replace it with plug-in-hybrids. People wouldn't pay $4 a gallon at the gas station anymore. It would boom the economy. Why don;t they emphasis the agression of alternative energy?

I suppose alternative energy sources cost money & are tough to come by. The thing w/humans is they can adapt to change, but being WILLING to change is a different story. It's hard to make people change their lifestyle, even for the better. They want something quick, easy, and less costly.

1)Embedded oil interests. 2)A significant need of more, green, nuclear power plants. 3) We are on the verge of bankruptcy since foreign confidence in the dollar will make additional borrowing to build such plants very costly. 4) the Car companies are only now closing the SUV plants everywhere while laying off thousands of workers. Our infrastructure is so far behind that it would take the equivalent of several Manhattan Projects to even catch up to where we ought to be right now. The blame for this can be laid squarely on our government's shoulders for not funding,encouraging energy independence but choosing to fight an oil war instead. The Republicans are the worst offenders for their lack of long term goals in this area- drilling is merely a stop gap that will support us for another decade at best.

If we went to plug in hybrids we would not have the electrical generating capacity to recharge all those batteries right now.

John McCain is proposing building more nuclear power plants to give us the additional electrical generating capacity that we will need for plug in hybrids and electric cars.

The future is plug in hybrids and electric cars, but we need the generating capacity to recharge all those batteries.

It would take approximatel 1,000 additional nuclear power plants to provide the electrical generating capacity needed.

Also currently over 50% of our electricity is generated by coal fired power plants. Plug in hybrids and electric cars do not give you any environmental benefit if the electricity is generated by coal.

If the electricity for plug in hybrids and electrics is generated by coal, all that accomplishes is to transfer the pollution to another site where the electricity is generated.

electric cars have the potential to be a very inexpensive form of transportation.

A full size sedan that currently gets approximately 20 miles per gallon, will use approximately 10 kilowatt hours of electricity to travel the same distance.

If you are paying 10 cents per kilowatt hour, that is like paying $1.00 per gallon for gasoline.  

It gets even better. some of the new plug in hybrids are advertised as being able to travel 40 miles on only 5 kilowatt hours of electricity!!!!

That is a cost of little more than one penny per mile!!!!

The cost of production of electricity by a nuclear power plant is only 3 cents per kilowatt hour!!!

This has the potential to dramatically reduce our fuel costs from the obscene costs of using gasoline as a transportation fuel.

Contact your Congress Persons and Senators and tell them that we need to start building nuclear power plants now!!!!

These obscene energy prices are killing us!!!!!!

Greed. Alternative currencies possible as well designs based on trades of people like Trucking and such. Laser Printers and computer imaging. Maybe people will have to create their own currency and fund alternitives themselves
