Why don't the dentist use gass anymore?

My dentist does..but than I know some dentists in my town do not. I think it is the preference of the dentist .. as for me I love it .. I use it even when I am getting my teeth cleaned and I would not go to a dentist who does not opt to use it..

we use gas/nitrous oxide.

but new regulations require dentists to be re-certified when giving nitrous.  this means a special limited offer refresher course (mine took 2 days), a fee, paperwork, and office inspection.  this is done every 2 or so years.  

For some, it may be too much of a hassle. others may not want the anxious pt.  for others, it's not cost effective for their office especially if they are going through small tanks.  Or, the number of pts that want it is so low that it is also not cost effective.

Some dentists do still use gas.  Mine does.  Get your phone book and start calling dental offices.  Tell them you want to find a dentist who will administer gas if need be.  The receptionist should be very helpful in telling you the dentists preferences.  Also, insurance companies rarely pay for gas and it is kind of expensive.

Some dentists are not licensed to administer gas.

When i got my wisdom teeth out they used gas, that was a few months ago, its an alternative to anesthetic or what ever its called thats makes you go to sleep
