Question:

Why don't the food police and health officials mandate EXERCISE instead of pushing diet drinks & low fat food?

The health officials, (FOOD POLICE) seem to be so outraged about the diet of Michael Phelps who eats whatever he wants, and is in top shape. It's too bad so many people fall for the low fat, diet soda myth. You can eat just about anything if you work it off, and include some beneficial fats in the diet, such as nuts and olive oil. I would like to know why doctors don't tell diabetic patients that exercise and lower carbohydrate, higher fat diets actually lower insulin resistence levels in these people.

  1. cuz the health care industry operates for profit. why would they want a bunch of healthy people running around.

  2. That is my diet : ) I eat anything I want because I spend 1-2 hours at the gym everyday, go cycling and swimming 4 times a week. People are just too lazy to workout and make healthy foods. So they go for the low fat foods that are actually terrible for you because a lot of them have more sodium than the regular version. They've actually proved in The China Study that with the right diet and exercise routine, type II diabetics can stop taking insulin altogether and type I diabetics had to take minimum amounts of insulin. Michael Phelps is working out 5 hours a day, the boy can eat whatever he wants.

  3. where did you learn your nutritious facts? My father is diabetic and he is on a low carb, high fat diet.  so, i'm pretty sure some doctors do tell their diabetic patients that.

i think you are over generalizing and may not have all of the facts straight.

EDIT: don't get me wrong, i agree about michael phelps. i was just making that fact that everybody may have different dietary needs.

  4. I agree with you 100%. I say this all the time! I am a former competitive swimmer. You burn a LOT of calories practicing swimming. I could eat whatever I wanted and had NO (well not 'no', but far less than average) body fat. 'diet' drinks are bogus and most likely contain artificial sugar replacements that cause other health problems. What's wrong with sugar? EXACTLY!! You can eat what you want if you are active enough. Exercise is so key. If you reduce your activity level though you better reduce you food intake. Please don't put that artificial poison sweetener in your body. Splenda is 'made from sugar' (why don't you just research how it's made by doing a little google search. you will be shocked)

  5. You can't sell exercise.  You can, however, get people struggling with their weight to keep buying the exact same foods that make them fat, only under "low fat!/low salt!/low sugar!" labels. The companies that sell unhealthy foods don't want people to stop buying them.
