Question:

Why don't the matchup ratings match up with the projected points in Y! Fantasy Football?

The matchup ratings rate matchups on a 1-5 star scale for that week. You can also look at the projected points for a player for any week. I have some 3 star matchup players this week that have over 10 more projected points than 4 star matchup players. How can this be? Which one should I care about? Or is it all bs?

  1. It is all kind of BS.  I had the same problem just a little bit ago.  How can a guy have a five star matchup and be projected for  points and the guy who has a four star matchup be projected for 16 points?  I personally go by the projected points and not the star ratings.

  2. The match up ratings are based upon how your player should match up against the other team. For example LT may only get a three star because he is facing Minnesota, a run block defense, but he's still LT and he's still going to get points. On the other hand you could have Grossman against a poor STL defense, but he will still manage to throw picks even if he is rated a four star and get many fewer points. Another reason for this is their position. A great tight end or wide receiver will probably not get as many points as a great RB or QB, but they will still be rated highly in their position.
