Question:

Why don't the people who have a choice between vegs and meat choose a vegetarian diet?

We are just addressing the end result of misallocation of land, resources, and continuing the exert pressure to produce meat. Why don't we solve the problem and people who can choose vegetables choose these? Even organic range is not that good........the animal still has to die at the hands of humans..

Now, I mean people living near food stores, who can afford vegetables, which are really much more efficent to grow. Not people living in the bloody cavemen times!

  1. Many people look at it like this:

"I don't have a problem with killing animals for food."

    "I think meat tastes awesome."

So, for these people (myself included) there is no incentive for us to stop eating meat. There is no conflict or anything.

  2. well, some ppl just don't like the idea of animals getting killed...and although meat has its goods, it also has bad stuff in it like bacteria that doesn't get killed even if it is cooked :)

  3. Because they want to eat meat? An omnivorous diet is the best you can get.

  4. Because it is a *choice.*

Honestly. This is at least the second question you've posted in the past couple of hours that is completely arrogant and assuming that people eat meat because they don't know any better. You made a choice to not eat meat because you are bothered by some aspect of it. Other people may not be bothered by it and therefore choose to eat meat. It's a difference of opinion, not blatant ignorance. Stop assuming you can change people by acting like you're better than they are, 'cause it's not going to happen.

  5. Telling people they have a choice then tellng them what to choose isn't really giving them a choice is it?

It's like asking why people wear blue instead of pink. Because they want to, because they can, because they choose to and most importantly, because it's really none of your business to know why.

  6. because some people just don't like vegtables or meat alternatives, like my fiance it actual makes him sick so when he goes to his friends house for dinner he has to bring his own food. i personally like both and choose to be a meat eater because i see nothing wrong with it. animal kill other animals for food its all a part of the circle of life.

  7. What about the surplus of grain and veg-type foods that we as a country have every year because of farmers overproducing to get the government rebate for their crop? Stop knocking the omnivores!

  8. Because some people just choose to do that! It's their choice, and they're free to do so!

  9. most people just dont really thik about the animals. : (

  10. Like many other things in life, I CHOOSE to eat meat.

  11. I choose a non-vegetarian diet because I don't find a vegetarian one to be practical...and a non-vegetarian diet is well-rounded.

I think it's also a bit off-putting to be lectured by vegetarians about eating meat.  The lectures really just come off as being pretentuous.  My friend is a vegetarian and I never lecture her about her choice--I respect that choice.  I don't understand why YOU feel the need to try to convert meat-eaters.

No, we're not living in a cave...but in reality that has nothing to do with anything!  In essence, you are calling all meat eaters cavemen/neaderthals which is rude and quite insulting.  You need to learn to respect others choices.

  12. I pick a meat diet bc its yummy! I don't always eat meat at every meal but I do eat it at least 5 times a week. Meat is good for you, eat a steak!

  13. i personally became a veggie because i didn't like the thought of having a poor mis-treated animal in my stomach. I wanted to buy free range and organic, but it was to exspensive for my mum to buy this everyday. i am much happier as a veggie!

  14. I think eating more veggies is wonderful for the environment myself.

Meat production is a major source of pollution.

As more and more people are becoming green, I myself can not see omnis having a green life style.

But alas, I don't think it will happen any time soon.

Also, I live in the capital of meat eating basically, and I see more ridicule to vegetarians and vegans than vice versa.

People find it hard to understand change, but change does happen.

Hopefully things will change for the better.

  15. Well, as humans, we have a choice. Many people, myself included, think that meat is part of a balanced diet, and it doesn't hurt that is tastes good. In my personal lifestyle, my family has BBQ every weekend, so becoming a vegetarian would set me as an outcast. Many countries in the world have customs that lead to a lifestyle of parties and different celebrations where meat is eaten, therefore people have no incentive to stop eating meat.
