  1. Its called Code 1. We are not required to run lights and siren like you think we do.

  2. Well, think about this. Your local stop and rob is actually being robbed. The officers want to catch the guy doing it. If you use a siren, the bad guy will here you coming. He may even get scared and kill the poor clerk working there. Better to get to the stop and rob quickly, get the bad guy by surprise and not get the clerk killed. There are many other reasons that I am sure others can share.

  3. [sarcasm]They're above the law...duh...[/sarcasm]

  4. Here's some news, Sunshine;  the POLICE can pretty much do whatever the h**l they want, make up ANY excuse they require to make it legal, and then blame some innocent SOB like you or I to make sure the attention is not on their behavior.

  5. Sometimes you have to go up quietly. You don't want to draw attention to your self from 2 miles out.

  6. Cops interested in catching crooks, will never turn on a siren or lights, it can be heard for miles, lights can be seen by lookouts, even worse, they may prepare an ambush. Silent approach keeps your quite and your adrenaline under control. It is called going code 1 silent........
