Why don't they put MLS numbers on the house "For Sale" signs?

cuz the MLS number is way easier to deal with than the phone number, and waiting for some idiot BS'er to call u back. With the MLS#, u can go on the computer and look it up, see pics of the inside, property dimensions, square footage, everything, without having to go to a stupid open house or make an appointmnent. You'll know right away if you wanna see it or not.

They cry about houses not selling, but this non-posting of MLS #'s really wastes a lot of time for everyone.

  1. The signs are reused for other houses, and the MLS number would be different.  Many signs have a slot for a flyer about the house that you can pick up, and the flyer would have the MLS number and often a phone # to call an automated system for more info about the house.

  2. if u know the mls number,u can find out a lot about the family who lives there.u wouldnt believe the things i could find out when my father was a realtor......u might as well post ur social security number on ur fence.

  3. To the guy who answered before me, I'm guessing you would stand to lose financially now wouldn't you? Just a hunch.  I think that the 'tricks' of the trade for lack of a better term - are usually not revealed in any industry.  An auto dealer will not post the invoice on the door of the car, a cable guy wont show you how to do it yourself to save the hassle of a 4 hour window for a service call again next time and so on.

  4. The first respondent is correct.  Hire a buyer's agent to do all your legwork.  Meanwhile, if you can't find a listed house online by the address, you need some serious computer training.
