In american football the coach can throw in the red challenge flag and the referee goes and looks at the reply and if the coach is wrong they lose a timeout. In soccer it should be that if the coach is wrong they lose a substitution.

  1. The problem with replays for soccer is that there is no set stoppage. Soccer is a flowing game, when it is stopped a counterattacking team loses all it advantage and the both teams are reset to respond to the stoppage (free kick, throw in, etc). When a ref stops, the play, he has to go with the call, he can't just make things the way they were before he blew the whistle. For example, if a foul turns out to be clean, all the speed and counterattack of the team that was thought to be fouled is gone. The only time I think replays would work is for seeing who the ball went off of when it goes out, but you can't just replay some calls and not others.
