Why don't they put the hard drive in the telly itself?

why the need for a seperate box to store your films on.

  1. Well for the fact it would cost more money, More moden tv's such as plasma's and LCD's Don't have much room in them. And it would require more room for the Hardware/software to acctually record it.

  3. Good sense from previous answers.

    If you have had an integrated Hi-Fi system in the past you will know what happens when one of the component parts goes wrong. At best it's a nuisance, at worst it's a right-off. Same applies to a TV with a HDD inside. Far better to have separate units. If one bit goes wrong it can be easily replaced, and if you want to, either bit could be upgraded.

  5. They do on some models, I had one (32" flat screen LCD) about 3yrs ago & it was great tho it cost me £600.

  6. I beleive it is because the new in thing is to have a flat screen tv which is thin as well. Also if the Hard drive messes up, you have to have them take apart your brand new tv to find the problem.
