Why don't criminal investigators and such, use plants and ghosts as witnesses?

There's plant and flowers everywhere! A few probably wittnessed some murders, too. Why don't they ask them?

There was this TRUE story about a guy got killed and there were plants in the room and a student working to solve the crime said he learned that plants have reactions to things like ppl do. The crime investigators said it was silly, but they hooked the plant up to something anyways, and when a guy walked by the machine printed out rly high zig-zag lines (like a lie-detector). They took the guy in for questioning and 2 hrs later he convinced to murder!

Here's another very true story:

There were these girls and their friend was murdered. They all gathered together and asked to communicate with their dead friend. The phone rang and left a fuzzy sounding message, but they heard the name of a guy at their school. They called in saying they had a witness (but of couse not sayings it was the victim). They questioned the guy and he convinced to murdering their friend.

lets use this as an example..

Your friend dies and another friend says they got a call from the ghost of the dead friend. They point to you as the killer. Now its your word against the friend with a ghost phone call.

Do you want that to be status quo? Where all you have to say is a ghost told me and you goto prison?
