Why isn't the military scientists trying to make an electric force field like on the Enterprise to protect cities and houses?

Why not blow up a bomb in a tornado to distrupt the winds?

Do something, other than sound alarms.

  1. they do, that's why they always devastate trailer parks

  2. probably 'cuz they would get sucked up and blow away!! what would they make them out of and to be light enough to be portable they would be too light to be effective!

  3. What kind of shield do you think will stop a force that can disassemble a home brick from brick until the only thing left is the foundation?

Your question, if meant as a joke, is offensive to the memories of the innocent who died in these storms.

If it isn't a joke, I suggest that you look at some videos of tornados and suggest a way you think a "shield" might work.

  4. The idea is a good one but where would the storm go?  They are known to skip across the tops of mountains,  so they would probably go around or over a shield.  How would such a devise be moved.  Would you need a wall around the entire area?

  5. Because they aren't on the Starship Enterprise.

  6. Expensive wall + 130+ mph winds = no more expensive wall.

You'd have to erect an incomprehensible amount of wall to protect anything significant, and even then, a tornado could still touchdown INSIDE the wall.

  7. cos they'd just reform behind them and move over them
