Piccadilly is in London and Liverpool is not. It's like it is designed deliberately to confuse people.

  1. Manchester Piccadilly and London Liverpool Street are both  named after streets close by the respective stations.

Street names are not unique and you are bound, therefore, to get some repetition of station names.

  2. Why should they? There is a Piccadilly in Manchester and a Liverpool Street in London after which both stations are named. The names were not designed to confuse anyone, but after the local landmarks.

  3. Piccadilly is also a place in Manchester. For example, Piccadilly Gardens, The Piccadilly Hotel, Piccadilly Records, Piccadilly Bus Station, Piccadilly Radio and Piccadilly Plaza.

I don't know why Manchester uses the same name as London, but it's not just for the train station.
