Why don't they spend money better ?

The irsh defence forces spends around 1,300,000,000 a year on there military which is more than iraq but they still dont have any Fighter plane,s of Main battle tank,s (they only have scorpian light tanks).

Ireland is an island, right next to England. They don't really have anyone to attack or anyone to attack them.

that's not a lot - a royal navy type 45 destroyer costs that much.

anyway, what need is their for a fighter force, the RAF has got your back.

Ireland is part of EU and so it can rely on NATO and EU forces to protect them.  Also, UK will not allow any country to attack Ireland because doing so would jeopardise its own security.  Therefore, England will very gladly go to Ireland's defence.

Heavy Armor and Fighter Aircraft raise that bill significantly. The maintenance alone costs way more than the acquisition price in the end. Then there is the training of the crews.  

Now what makes more sense? Save your money and call a friend, or spend your money on equipment that could be over run with ease because you don't have enough to begin with?

Besides, a couple of platoons of Irish transsexuals would repel any invasion that Russia could mount.
