  1. They do if they touch two wires: same for birds

  2. While electrical current do damage their cells, they do not get shocked because they do not have a nervous system.

  3. They are always properly earthed! I am joking.....

Actually the plants do get electric shocks especially when they receive the lightening during the storm and heavy rains.  The trees actually burn down and anything under that tree gets burnt completely. So it is advised that do not take shelter under any tree during storm and lightening. The trees become a good conductor of electricity and the lighting is attracted towards the tall tree.  These type of accidents are very common in tropical region.

  4. Wood is not a very good conductor of electricity, even new, wet wood. The previous answer about lightning travelling through trees is not completely correct. When a tree is struck by lightning the high charge of electricity tries to pass through the wood via its sap. What happens is the sap is heated instantaneously to steam and the wood splits apart with the pressure.
