Why don't vending machines take pennies?

  1. You need too many of them to match up...the machine usually can't store a vast amount of space-consuming pennies.


  2. Why do pennies exist? Probably because when they take the money out they don't want to count it all out.

  3. Because people don't use pennies much anymore. And who carries 125 pennies around with them?  

  4. Probably because it would be simply too much to store.  Can you imagine all of the pennies for a few cans of soda, if several people used all or mostly pennies?

    Now they need to make vending machines that will take dollar coins but not dollar bills.

  5. Because the machines would fill up too fast.....the money bin would have to be really big..

  6. Who would carry around enough pennies to make a vending machine purchase?  Even the cheapest thing would take at least 50 pennies!  The pennies would also take up an awful lot of space inside the machine.  

    It seems senseless for a vending machine to accept pennies.
