  1. Inherent corruption, which we have become all too accustomed to via the pork barrel process of our overly abused election process. The Republicans state that they want to spend less but do the opposite. The Democrats, in keeping with this populist agenda, wind up embracing this as well and promising yet more. Until our elected officials embrace the laws with which they are encumbered this trend will only continue. The republicans have milked this to near oblivion.

  2. When taxes are increased the people who have to pay the taxes get poorer and the money they give to the government is literally given away to foreign powers.  If you could see the countries and projects that get American aid you would have a heart attack.  Unbelievable!!!!!  The president and Congress p**s away billions each year.  Our national debt is now in the trillions and it is still going up.  We will have to declare bankruptcy unless the government decides to increase taxes again and again.

  3. Because economic growth requires investment and capital formation.   Taxes siphon off money that would otherwise be used for that.

  4. About 80% of us get more benefit then we pay in taxes.  Imagine if taxes were completely suspended.  Every time you got onto the road, you had to pay a toll.  If you got robbed, you were sent a bill from the police for filing a report.  If your house was on fire, you had to pay the fire company before they started.  When you went to the store, you could never be sure that weight scales and measuring devices for food were accurate.  There was nobody out investigating rapes and murders unless they were paid for by a private citizen.  Then once the offender was found, you had to pay a judge to hear the case, a prison to hold the guy, and a lawyer to make sure he didn't get out early.  Imagine jumping on a jet liner that had no way to know where the other jets were.  Imagine eating food and taking drugs that were placed on the market without any procedures in place to confirm their safety.

I could go on.  If we had to pay individually for each of these services, we would not live in the society we live in today.  It would look more like that of a third world nation.  Tax dollars are a good investment.  Are they often spent inefficiently? Yes.  But that is a different problem.

The Republicans routinely increase money into the system.  That devalues the dollar.  Democrats cure for the ensuing inflation is often to raise taxes to afford to make up for the lost dollar value.  So it might seem that you are not getting any value out of raised taxes, but what really is happening the benefits are being maintained.

  5. When the government raises taxes, money gets removed from the private economy. If it weren't taken. that money would have been invested in businesses which provide employment and economic growth.

  6. Often this is a result of inefficient use of money, inaccurate estimations of revenue, or just wasteful spending such as funding a space craft to 90% completion and dropping it or funding thousands of military experiments. Putting one dollar through a system with 500 middle men insures that the best possible outcome is less than getting one dollar back to the people. In many cases it's only about 75% (By my own guesstimation)

  7. it's called " Modern Day Slavery ".... Imperialism by robbing the people of their wealth and only leave them enough so that they can live to continue working and laboring for the companies and empires that rule the world . Just as the early day slave methods.

  8. In california we have a 15 billion plus deficit in our over due state budget. The Dems solution is to increase taxes by what they say will bring in an additional 10 billion. One problem there...current law says all new taxes must be split 50 50 with the schools here. So their 10 billion increase will only solve 1/3 of the budget short fall.

AND THEY STILL WONT CUT SPENDING

If you knew you were gonna be be broke at your current spending rate wouldnt you cut back?

Why dont they just raise the taxes enough to cover the schools 50% plus their shortfall? Even they know it would be the end of all business in the state as well as all the homeowners who would flee after their jobs as they left.
