  1. The kind of aircraft used for aerobatics usually have limited range, and they have to be either flown to Australia (with multiple stops for refueling), or they have to be shipped by sea.  Both of these are expensive if the teams are based in Europe or the U.S.

It's part of a general difficulty that Australia has because it is so far from most of the rest of the developed world.  Practically everything has to be shipped thousands of miles to get to Australia, and vice versa.  It's expensive, and not always cost-effective.

  2. And who is going to pay for them to come.  It's expensive to ship aircraft all the way to Australia just for an airshow.

  3. Hey Prophet, they dont ship them to shows they fly them. But to answer the question, Im not really sure... maybe go on their website and see if you can contact them.

  4. The PAN (Italian national acrobatic team) is gone, a few years later, to Singapore, but in Australia I don't now.

  5. I'm not from australia so I can't really answer your question very well, but I can tell you that you have one of the greatest air shows coming in a few months.

Watching the Russian Knights, of US Navy Blue Angles is fun and all, but they don't even come close to being as exciting to watch as the Redbull Air Races, which will be in Perth November 1st & 2nd. http://www.redbullairrace.com/races.php?...

Its about the most exciting air show you could ask for. Usually there are some demonstrations from aerobatic pilots and sometimes military teams, so you might get to see something along the lines of what you're looking for. If you can make it, you really should go.

  6. John, aside from the expense, it is a long, long way down under from Russia. The logistics involved in flying a group of single engine fighter aircraft over many countries to get there, plus their maintenance crew is probably prohibitive.

You are not alone, as they don't get them in New Zealand, either.

    Dan
