Why don't we have monerail instead of track trains?

  1. Monerail is only good for lite trains. The cost would be to great to build Monerail, its cheaper when they can lease the freight train track.

    If it made sense someone would be doing it.

  3. Monorail would be suitable for, say, a high-speed Maglev shuttle, but would not have the flexibility of conventional tracked trains.

    Conventional trains are already running at speeds of around 200mph and a French TGV recently reached 300mph although it would not be able to go so fast in normal service.

    The Chinese Maglev is capable of around 300mph but this is a light passenger train, used on a shuttle service. It would not for example be suitable for the very heavy freight trains that operate on Chinese Railways, nor for long-distance passenger trains.
