Why don't women make jokes ?

So far in life, as if i find, if a group of people are standing together it is always up to the guys to make all the jokes.

Even when i'm talking to a girl, i seldom remember a girl saying something that really gets me laughing, while I get them to laugh all the time.

The only exception is that there are many "women jokes" that girls tell amongst themselves, but that's not what i'm talking about:

I am talking about the general LOL jokes, and practical jokes that can get a whole family laughing.

Just think about it, how many times (if ever) do you see a woman doing something utterly silly and rediculous on tv commercial / tv show.

  1. Some women have an excellent sense of humor.  Other women like to do funny things every once in awhile like get silly, play pranks, etc.  Maybe the guys are trying to impress the women?

  2. WOW you really pissed me off because this is something I've given a lot of thought to in my life - about how people react differently to funny women than funny men.

I spend about 90% of my conversations trying to make people laugh. I seek out people who are funny, so a lot of my female friends are hilarious. I will say this - it's harder to be funny as a woman than as a man, because people seem more uncomfortable around women who try to be funny, and I get weird looks from people sometimes like they don't know how to take me because I have a very deadpan, dry sense of humor. It's frustrating because I grew up with 3 brothers and we always tried to make each other laugh, and I make the same kinds of jokes and comments that men do, but I get different reactions than men. It's like people expect me to stand there and look pretty, not try to be funny.  Usually they come around after awhile though.

  3. You need to find some better women, my sense of humour is the only thing I've got going for me, so I for one make jokes.

  4. My personal opinion, or at least the reason that I don't make jokes, is because women are more tender hearted and get offended easier. I hold back for fear of getting rejected or made fun of because the joke wasn't that great.

  5. Ur right, women dont tell jokes.

I once had a woman I was sleeping with tell me she was pregnant, she wasn't joking !

  6. Maybe they find you funny enough without having to think of something to say.

    Cheers :-)

  7. Baloney.  In any group dynamic, the men tend to talk over the women.  Why don't you shut up long enough to let someone else have the floor.

I will acknowledge that most women (and for that matter, most men) don't know how to tell a joke.  Their timing is off, or they forget the punchline, or they ramble on with too many details.

We'll get together, you and I, and we'll see who makes better jokes.

  8. I think it has something to do with the fear of standing out in the lime light.  Or possibly the fear of rejection (zero laughs).  I know there are times I choose not to share a joke due to the fear of offending someone, or the lack of remembering a joke.  With that said I do get quit a few good laughs when my mouth tends to get away from me.

I do get what you said though, you really don't hear a girl getting the guys rollin like you guys do us.

  9. Okay, so this grasshopper walks into a bar and orders a drink, right?

The bartender says "Hey, we have a drink named after you."

The grasshopper says "Really? You have a drink named Bob?"

Get it? There's a drink called a Grassgopper, but the grasshopper's name was...oh, never mind.

  10. Could this be more about the company that you keep? I know lots of funny women. It sounds strange to me that you don't know any women who make jokes, or do silly/fun things.

What's the connection between TV and funny women? You think television reflects a realistic portrayal of society? Of women?? Of men??

  11. What men think is funny isn't always actually very funny.  Just visit the zoo sometime and watch the primates.  It's always the males who throw their p**p at the humans and think it's funny, not the females.

  12. i make jokes. some women just arent funny. they'd probably would rather laugh at a joke than tell one. maybe they tell one, and it doesn't sound funny so they do something else to impress people

  13. I joke.

  14. I don't know about the women you know. But I always crack jokes. However, I did grow up in a family that can make jokes about each other and laugh at it. We like to tease each other in a joking way. I did grow up around my older brother. He is a really funny guy. I love making people laugh and most of the time it is my cracking jokes!
