Question:

Why don't women play with their kids at fun parks (spray parks, water parks) like dad's do?

I just took my kids to the water park and all the fathers who brought their kids were out there playing with the kids while the moms who brought their kids were sitting on the sides just watching. What is the purpose?

  1. Ohhhh no im not a typical Mum lol . I jump on every ride possible and probably have more fun than the kids . We all go home really tired and full of smiles . xx

  2. Well, I will typically play if I'm at a Water Park. If I'm at Disney and they want to run around under the sprinklers to cool off- I'm not going to ruin my makeup for that. They could actually care less in that kind of case anyway.

If they are in a pool or someplace I've planned to get wet- I will just let loose.

My husband is like ten years old in the mind-ha ha- so he'll just do anything the kids do- plus more.

  3. First off, like someone else said, moms need a break! Secondly and related to this, moms enjoy relaxing and watching their husbands bonding with the kids (and also watching their husbans BE little boys again :)) I think that's why.

  4. A lot of women are to insecure to get out there and get wet, and run around and have fun because of body image. Thats what I have always found to be the case. I think it's sad for the dad, and kids. Being married, and having kids isn't mean to "ruin" a woman. If they took care of themselves and were happy with themselves, you wouldn't see it half as often where they just sit back and do nothing.

  5. The reason is 2 fold.  1, if you are talking about SAHM then they probably need a break and to let dad take over for a bit  2.  Dads need some one on one time with their kids too.  Moms are usually the one who spend the most time with the kids so taking a  day for dad to play with the kids at the park isn't a bad thing, is it?

When I'm with my kids during the week, I'm in playing with them too but when DH is home I let him have his time.

You know what they say about assuming, don't you?  Don't assume that these were SAHD.  They might just work different shift hours.  And for every dad you saw in the water there are 100 more sitting in front of WoW all day.  Read Y!A long enough and you will know that too.

  6. Its b/c the moms need a break from their kids sometimes

  7. Because we are freakin tired!!

  8. The Mothers need a break and as has been said most men are still like little boys anyhow so they fit in with the three-year-olds!

  9. I play with my kids at the park. We swing & slide together. We took the kids to a water park last year & I got on the water slides too. I am making memories with my kids and treasure these times.

  10. Not me!  I LOVE the fact that I can now act like a kid again and be able to get away with it!

  11. Moms and Dads have two very different personalities when it comes to parenting. Dads are the fun, get-down-and-dirty-and-play kind of personality, where the moms are the nurturing personality. If a child wants a hug or gets hurt, then they run to Mom, if a child wants to play, most likely, Dad will be the ones who are asked. Also, taking kids to a fun place like a water park and letting the kids run and play lets the mom have a much needed rest.oms are on their feet all day long, chasing kids, making dinner, doing chores, etc, and being able to sit and relax while the kids run and have fun is a very good experience for the moms.

I take my daughter to playgroup 3 days a week so I can sit and relax while she plays. It's a much needed break.

  12. I have to assume that each of the parents have their own reasons, which I don't know, but here are a couple of guesses.

    1)  The dads never grew up...they're really still kids at heart, so it's as much fun for them to play as it is for the kids.

    2)  The moms have been playing with them for the last 900 hours straight, and are there for the opportunity to sit and rest while the kids are having fun.

    Edit:

I'm with sexybitach...If I go to the waterpark, it's so that I can have fun.  If the kids have fun, too, then it's a benefit for everyone!

  13. I enjoy the park with my children. Taking your own children to a park is so much fun knowing that when you were younger, your parents did it with you!

  14. lol its our moment to relax!

  15. Not me! I get out there and play with them; whether it's a water park, regular park, etc... I'm right up there with them, climbing stuff and getting drenched. :)
