Why don't you drink mexico's water?

iv'e heard ppl say befor not to drink water in mexico, why is that?

Because Mexico is a third world country. In the most modern parts of Mexico, the filtration systems are good enough to drink from the public supply. If you're visiting a part of any country that looks underdeveloped, then I would not drink the water.

I always feel that it is a good idea to drink bottled water when traveling abroad regardless of how modern the surroundings are.

the waters nasty, live there you get used to it and are immune travel there and you'll spend alot of time on the toilet

you can now in a lot of places (cities) but their sanitation standard is lower than say the US and since our system is not acustom to some of the things contained in their water it gives you the squirts.

the locals drink it becuase their bobies are use to it. if you moved their drank it for a while you would get use to it too.

We all drink bottled water in Mexico, its widely available. Our well water has chemicals in it plus lots of salt and calc. High end restaurants have water purification systems and pure ice. Not to worry. However, many visitors get the revenge just by drinking too many Margaritas and eating unfamiliar food. Late nights, too much heat and sun on the beach all contributing factors.

There is bacteria in the water there that we do not have here, and since we are not used to it, it will make us sick if it is consumed (mainly, a serious case of the runs!  not real comfortable especially if you drove there! *eeks*).

Water sanitation standards historically have not been the same as they might be in more developed countries.  It is improving, rapidly but that has been the reason.  See attached article from the Arizona Republic a couple years ago.  It is now more due to habit/cultural norm that bottled water is more regularly consumed in Mexico...particularly in the tourist areas that you are more likely to visit.

not the tap water.... it is so freaking nasty, my fish died because of it. Bottled water is the best
