Have you ever heard stories of 12 year old geniuses going to MIT. I have. The funny thing is that all these genius stories never follow up on the kids life. If these kids are geniuses, then how come they have not come up with important iventions or cures? You never hear the Nobel Prize winner on so and so was that kid genius that you heard about 20 years ago. Its usually someone smart but normal. Are geniuses a failure?

  1. Why must these geniuses be regarded as our saviors. Let them do whatever they want to do with their lives. Would  you like to have a camera following you around for decades? Maybe even asking you why you chose the career or the lifestyle you decided to follow?

I personally find it a little sad to see these child geniuses, because I can only imagine how difficult it must be for them to interact with other children their age. It sound like a great accomplishment to be a 12yr old going to MIT, but just imagine all the things that 12yr has missed out on in life and will continue to be left out of.

P.S. I doubt I'll ever see a 12yr being invited to an MIT party :(

  2. Why don't we ever hear the accomplishments of Sam A.? Is Sam A. a failure?

    And what about women inventors?

In a book of American inventors, they list some person in upstate new york as inventing the potato chip. The quote says that as a young man he observed his sisters cutting spuds in thin strips and flash frying them... Really, it says that. He discovered them because his sisters knew how to make them!

Amazing isn't it, how due credit is not given in some cases?

I was amazed to learn the microscope was invented by the 15 years old  Anton van Leeuwenhoek.

  4. I think they all have breakdowns and grow to resent being exploited for their increased intellectual capabilities, then they take some low paying menial job just to thwart the people they know and their family and teachers.

  5. Some geniuses do not know the extent of their ability; and when they begin to explore it, the results can be frightening and challenging. There are some human vultures who are waiting to exploit the 'genius' person for monetary gain. But some do well. An example is Dr. Benjamin Carson who separated twins conjoined at the head. His autobiography reveals that he was at the bottom of his class and ashamed of this position. When he got glasses, he saw better. His hobby of collecting rocks helped too.He became the Head of the Neurology  Department at John Hopkins at age 30.Dr. Ben is also a musician and can play classical music. Some people could be rich from being a genius; but some prefer to keep a low profile and serve humanity, improving lives like Dr. Benjamin Carson. You may not consider him a genius but I saw a documentary on a young man who inspired Dusty Hoffman's Rain Man movie. I was impressed by his ability. He was as good or better than Wikipedia, Brittannica,Collier's etc based on the questions fielded at him and his instantaneous ease in answering them. That guy was a contrast to the idea of genius!

  6. They arent failures, but they just have an uncanny interest in things that dont highlight their mental abilities. Like one guy i know..he's not a genius but really smart!! He's going to college for video game programing or something of that nature. I totally saw him in medical or law school!!
