All this tosh about the seat in front saving you, really.....

Unfortunately, the honest answer is cost. The bus companies (and their shareholders) don't see it as a worthwhile investment, bus passengers are expendable!

In Ireland you have to wear a seatbelt where provided, all school buses and private buses have them.

You have a protective seat in front of you, so if you crash you'll smash into the seat. The Bus driver has a seat belt because he/she doesn't have a seat in front of them.

2 reasons

1) no where to fasten 3 point belts on an aisle seat without strengthening seat backs

2) if you were involved in an accident on a bus, you would hit the seat in front with you with your chest, if seatbelts were fitted you would hit the reinforced seat back(see above) in front of you with your face.

i wish they had them there so you could wear them if you wanted to.

You are no more safer in a bus than a car, it's for your own safety.

the bus makes too many stops and it would be kind

of hard to enforce on a transit bus since most passengers

are not traveling very far or  a bus would never get to where

it was going if *every* passengers had to fasten a seat

belt before the bus contiined on its trip

and in most accidentl anyway the bus would win the contest

with a car

Its because the impact of a bus on a car is much greater on the car due to the size and volocity of the bus.

I have wondered this too.. perhaps it's the issue that if it was a law the driver would have to make sure everyone had their seat belt on.... which I'm sure they couldnt manage as they seem to be unable to stop people from smoking on the bus!

new buses have them. it stops you from going out of the window. or being seriously hurt.

cuz there r seats infront of u... n they expect u 2 b in ur seat not in the middle of the issle sitting in the floor...
