Question:

Why don't you like vegetarians/vegans?

I was just wondering why there is such a hate for us. I don't understand it. It doesn't change me as a person. I don't push my beliefs onto other people. If you want to eat meat go ahead. I just don't enjoy it, and I'd prefer not to. It's just like saying you don't like someone who eats vegetables. I just choose not to eat meat. Where's the hate coming from?

  1. Like any other group which is on the fringes much of the time, vegetarians and vegans can promote discomfort and anxiety about not conforming to group norms. One way of resolving this is to turn hostile against them, which is what some people do.

Some vegans and vegetarians do the same to meat eaters of course, and thats not right either. The most helpful thing is try and get a dialogue going, rather than a slanging match of any kind. That's the only condition in which positive change (on both sides) has ny chance to occur.

  2. No problems, do what you like to

  3. I'm not sure. I used to be a vegetarian for 2.75 years.

Now I eat meat. (Which I think is more healthy if done right. Lots of lean chicken breast has helped me lose fat and build muscle.)

But both are cool with me.

I do think it's harder to entertain vegetarian guests because their options are limited food-wise. But as I used to be a vegetarian, it's nothing I get offended by when a vegetarian says "I can't eat that."

  4. i'm totally fine with vegetarians/vegans

my friend is a vegetarian and if he sees me eating

meat he would throw up. cos meat is totally nasty to him.

all he eats at McDonald's is fries which is totally fine with me,

  5. Whenever there are groups of people who go against the "norms" of society, there is bound ot be conflict.

The vast majority of people are raised to believe that meat /dairy/eggs are essential to a healthy diet. Combine those generations to a bunch of people who defame the meat industry, promote animals rights, and insist that meat is the source of many of our health problems. Now you see why?

Also, I think it's because people get insulted because since we don't eat meat, it is some how making us seem "too good" for their way of life. They think we believe that we are above them or something, so they get defensive and attack us. It really is ridiculous.

  6. Don't care about your diet.

What I don't like is to see how much misinformation and flat out incorrect "knowledge" is spewed forth here that is so influential to peoples' decisions about being veg' and their opinions of conventional farming.

  7. I am a vegetarians so of course I have nothing against them. And...I haven't experienced any hate for us...sorry I can't really help you. You could try saying, "What's so important about what you eat?" I dunno...sorry, really sorry. I know some people do it out of peer presure though...

  8. i <3 them!

  9. I don't have a problem with them-it's basically their decision.

  10. <==Vegan

This is a weird question.  Some people don't like us, but most either respect our choices or don't care.  I only ever get guff on here.  In real life people don't care:)

  11. I personally have no problems with the vegetarians or vegans. I have several good friends who are. But after spending so much time with them, I've found the reason people don't like them/seem cold, if at all, most people don't have a real issue with the subject, they just think its strange. And if someone really does hate them, its because PETA is pushy, and believe that all vegetarians/vegans belong to PETA.

  12. I don't have anything against vegetarians as a eater of Halal meat not all restaurants cater for such dietry needs so as a result i'm obliged to eat as a vegetarian so i put myself in any vegans shoes which is how i manage to respect them for being able to be so strong in their views of not eating meat at all. I guess people hate because their obnoxious or ignorant.
