Why don't you remember your dreams?

I never seem to remember my dreams and I was wondering why that is?

  1. Dreams are not a cognitive, linear process, and bear little resemblence to waking thought processes or reality, and thus are not reinforced pieces of information like remembering how to get to your girlfriend's house or your mentor's phone number.

    Humans cycle through dream-sleep about every 87 minutes, and have have several dreams in each cycle.  That's a lot to remember that is mostly a jumble.  (Imagine trying to remember the lines of a painting by Pollack instead of by Mondrian!)


  2. Not remembering your dreams is very normal.  In fact, it's more normal to not remember them than to remember them (if you remember them it's ok too).  No one remembers all of their dreams.  Yes, you dream every night whether you remember them or not.  Don't worry about it.
