  1. Why, where is your reasoned argument to support a question like that - or are you just being trollish?

  2. First off HEY APOLLO, SHE'S OUR QUEEN TOO YOU KNOW, NOT JUST ENGLANDS.

Now, Her Majesty is a constitutional Monarch who has worked hard all her life for her country. The Royal family costs us a matter of a few pence each per year, much less than our incompetent politicians cost us. If We were to have a president instead it would cost a huge amount for security to protect him or her. Also ex presidents have to get the same security as current ones so we would be paying for them for the rest of their lives. In America ALL living presidents and any surviving widows of presidents are entitled to full security protection. It must cost them a fortune. Our own Royal family are not only far cheaper to maintain, but are as someone has said unlikely to be corrupted as they in fact are ceremonial only.

In all the Queen is much better value for money than a president.

She is a wonderful draw for tourism.

And her continued reign prevents some corrupt tramp like T B liar becoming president.

And she prevents corrupt politicians from juggling for position as head of state.

And she prevents all the palaver connected to presidential elections from happening here, would you really like all that c**p America is having to listen to at the minute? Just read the Q&A about Obama vs McCain happening now.

And finally having a Royal family is probably the last classy thing the UK has left.

  3. because a president would not bring the tourism into the country the same as the royal family does! Can you imagine people coming to look at Gordon Browns house, nope me neither!

  4. Personally speaking I would rather have a wise and public spirited woman like her majesty Queen Elizabeth, than an idiot like George W. Bush..

  5. I would, but people like her. Not just here, but in Australia where she is also queen, and in places like Canada and the rest of the commonwealth. She brings in lots of stupid american tourists and she's a good ambassador. Personally i'd get rid of the monarchy just as a matter of principle, but I don't see how outside an act of open terrorism. Take comfort in the fact that she can't DO anything. The reigning monarch has NO political opinions, by law.

Talking about middle ages, doesn't America have the death penalty? And isn't the president unaccountable for decisions, like an elected king? When was the last time you got to vote on a political move?

  6. There are monarchies rights across Europe including Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and of course the UK. The UK Monarch is also Head of State of Australia, New Zealand, Canada and many other Commonwealth nations.

As has already been mentioned we have a constitutional monarchy, and most people prefer a monarch to having Bill Clinton and his cigar loving interns or President Bush as Head of State.

  7. No, we are not in the middle ages, which is why we have a modern constitutional monarchy. This is a safeguard against tyranny. The highest offices of state are locked in a hereditary position, out of the reach of politicians, and the holder of those offices is strictly limited by law. It is a good system, why change it?

  8. And Italian politics is something to be proud of is it?  You keep your system and we`ll keep ours, thank you kindly.

  9. The Queen has done her duty to this country for many years. Whilst most of her offspring are pretty dim and addicted to avoiding any form of work would you want some political Muppet  like Blair or Brown as Head of State ?.

  10. Oh P*** off.  because we like her, ok?

Edit:  Oh for heavens sake.  Troll we have elected leadership in this country.  It is known as the government and every 5 years or so we vote for which political party we would like to see "govern"" us.  Now the person in charge of the winning political party is known as the Prime Minister (you could say that this person is the real head of state) and he or she forms  a cabinet  of ministers who between them all, try to fulfil policies, propose new laws and amend old laws (statutes) which we all live by.

Back in history Royalty was indeed the head of state but nowadays the role of royalty is largely symbolic.  New laws are indeed still enacted in the name of the monarch but again this is more of a nod to our heritage.  Heritage is important.  lets not just dis it because to the under educated it "seems" pointless.

  11. Are you jealous or something, because you have no history or heritage of your own, only convicts and cast offs for forbears, sad ain't it, still you keep your nose in your own trough for another 1000 years then you can decide if your president matches our Queen, i doubt it

  12. The Queen of England is very important to us, she is not just a figurehead as so many believe, she takes a coronation oath, to Rule and safeguard the rights and constitution of her subjects against parliment, she has to sign every law before they become valid, she has the last say in anything the government say or do, she has the power to stand down parliment, sack the lot, and ask the people to re-elect a new one.  So is the power of our Sovereign Queen.

  13. i assume you mean the uk, and anyway, the queen isnt a real queen, shes more of a figurehead, shes just symbolic of an old empire that britain once ruled

  14. We don't want to end up like the Americans, things are bad enough as it is.!

  15. Because I AM ENGLISH and I LOVE OUR MONARCHY despite the cost.

Believe me there are many more costs which are totally without stability.

10 BILLION for the OLYIMPICS!!!!!!!! Need I say more.

  16. You clearly do not begin to understand the concept of Constitutional Monarchy. Go away

  17. An elected Head of State would probably be corrupted by the International Corporations that have bought many of our government ministers.

The Royal Family, being unelected and independently wealthy are difficult to corrupt and therefor are our ultimate protection from rogue government.

  18. My sentiments entirely.

Our head of state should be elected.
