  1. Because most people in China eat white rice.  They like the white smooth taste instead of grainy taste in rice.

  2. Also it is cooked in large rice cooker or steamer, and time is of the essences, white rice can be done after rinsing in 15-20 minutes brown or whole grain can take 45-60 minutes to cook and still tends to be a but chewy due to the outer bran husk.

I am a former chef and have heard this debate for years, and most Asians prefer the lighter less filling flavour of the "polished" rices, have the bran a nd germ removes is alot more convenient and is less trouble cooking

  3. White rice is traditional in Chinese cooking.

Whole grain (brown rice or colored rice) is something new & that health concious people are aware of & are looking for.

Depending on the restranut you go to. A few Chinese restaurant (those resturants it maybe Chinese-American Cuisine with a health councious menu) may have if it if they're in a neighborhood/area that has a high demand & use for it, being health concious they'll have it in their menu. Yes it maybe a higher priced resturant.

  4. because that more like a "health" food, ans its more expensive, if you notice the restaurants that do serve it upon request, the price will be slightly higher, and the might be more concious as to what, and how they serv

  5. They cannot afford to and who really would eat whole grain fried rice or whole grain steamed rice, UGH!!!

  6. Asians usually eat white rice. My mom (who is Vietnamese) never even had whole grain/brown rice till she went to the Americanized Chinese restaurant PF Chang's here.
