  1. Trust me, if everyone coming torwards you had their brights on, you wouldn't be able to see anything, not to mention the headache from all the squinting. The brights are there to provide you with more light in the case that there are no other vehicles around. You would not be affecting any other drivers. I do believe there IS a law stating that you must turn your brights off when the oncoming vehicle is 500 feet from you.

  2. mister ppl use their brights all the time even to the point of being annoying. in some places you can get fined for having them on.

  3. Because we are a courteous bunch of people, and since having our bright lights on would blind you (or any other driver on the road in the immediate area), we keep them off when anyone is close by and would be affected.  Therefore it's unlikely you would ever see them on.  We do keep them on if we are the only person on the road of course so we can see.

  4. Its not against the law and I always use them on the highway as long as there are no other vehicles coming in the other direction.

  5. Bright lights temporarily blind drivers on the opposite lane. The purpose of them is for signaling such as: tapping it a few times before passing other cars or blinding DUMB DRIVERS WHO BLIND YOU. They're also useful for mountainous terrains because drivers around the corner can foresee you coming which would prevent head-on collisions in dark and twisty roads.

  6. I use them on dark Hwy's. as long as there are no cars in on coming direction, or fog.

  7. brights are only to be used when there is no other vehicles or pedestrians. use common sense and be polite turn them off in citys or when other might be around.

  8. u can use them when it's really dark, and there is no one coming head on....

they are not suppose to be used because they can blind ppl they say...

  9. there is generally so much oncoming traffic that it is of almost no value.

  10. As long as there is no on coming traffic and my visibility is lowered I would use them. I don't use them in snowy or foggy weather since the extra light reflecting off the snow/fog reduces my vision even more.

You never want to blind the person driving toward you! That is why we don't have them on all the time. We just don't want to blind someone and put our selves at risk.

  11. it's against the law to use them when cars are going in the opposite direction cuz it blinds them. but if there are barely any cars, that's what they're for. i live in an area where there are well  lighted highways, but also some back roads where bright lights are absolutely necessary.
