  1. Go to several bait and tackle shops near the ocean and ask around about reputable charter fishing boats in the area. A competent charter captain can take you right where the fish are, and you'll likely come home with as many nice sized fish as you can carry. It will cost you $60 or more to pay for the trip (depending on the company and the exact fish you're going for), but it's the closest you'll come to a sure thing and you will have lots of fun. Keep in mind that there are a lot of questionable charter fishing companies which hire lazy captains who can't even find their own asses with a fishfinder, and just blow their horns and have you drop your tackle in random spots and you could easily come home with nothing, so make sure a charter company is well-recommended before buying tickets. You can also maximize your catch by researching the type of fish you're going for, and bringing your own rod and tackle rather than renting the cheap generic tackle that charter boats typically provide.

If you're located far inland and only have access to freshwater, I would recommend starting off with simple tried-and-true fresh baits such as worms, corn, and bread. You have to experiment with floats and determine whether the fish are biting at the bottom or near the surface. Live worms can be fished like lures (if used without a sinker), but your best results with fresh bait is usually to just toss it where you think the fish are lurking, and wait at least 15 minutes. There is no hard rule to this - sometimes you have to cast far out where the water is deep, sometimes the big fish are close to the shore near the weeds or overhanging trees.

  2. you can have all the fancy fishing stuff in the world and it wont matter.

You need to how to use lures and bait properly. and just sit..

  3. Patience - fishing is a waiting game when you're using live bait.

For artificial bait you need to learn how to fish it and what lures to use for what fish - also you need to check how heavy your fishing line it.

For example using 10 lb line to catch trout can be difficult.

Get a good fishing book like fishing for dummies (no slam on you) and do some reading. Or find an old guy that is willing to mentor you... I had one decades ago...

  4. It is Cos u r very anxious n when this happens the fish senses your presence, maybe u hold your rod too tight n that makes your heart rate pulses to your rod resulting in light vibration/electrical pulses into the water where only fish can detect with their highly developed lateral line sensor.Even your thought of getting them can really scare them away,if u don't agree try feeding any carp/fish staring intensely at them with violent thoughts/angry thoughts, they know. Then try closing your eyes but still visible to them n u get to hear them taking your feed. This is really hard to prove but I have been successful in fishing with the right emotion, don't really force a result of landing a quality sized fish every time u hunt for them.Be content bout the outcome,be relax, accept reality both good or bad, enjoy every cast everything in your most optimistic form n this will send good vibes for better result.Don't think its funny, its really a way to be the most happy, stress free, exciting, dynamic way to have total control over any fishing encounter period. These r mostly agreed by anglers with over ten/twenty years of fishing experiences. Also fight hard, never say die even at the last remaining bait/lure that u got.We just never know whats coming n that is excitement in every way worthwhile.Fishing is not about the fish, its about us being honest, humble n just a single role to play as the hunter. Our daily lives r filled with lots of regrets, lies, false pretenses n many more, therefor we like the sense when we r left with ourself at a remote place trying to be ourself without critism, judgements blah blah blah. Also we get to be the one responsible to our actions by ourself without guilt, pressures n so on.Being able to enjoy a simple survival outcome without having to make much sacrifices in our intregity, pride n hopes r the most angler basic attraction in this sport.

  5. Hook, bobber, worm. Throw it in , and wait!

  6. there is a lot to learn about catching fish that's for sure. fact is if you want to you never stop learning secrets of the pros. Professional fisher persons know alot of secrets especially about the fish they go after in tournaments but we have no clue what fish you are looking for or trying to catch I assume nothing fresh water ??? Who knows? Salt water? on a boat a river a stream a lake an inlet???? what fish you fishing for???? h**l if you can't help with better lay of the land we can not help you fish for squat and well I guess you have plenty of practice catching that already

  7. Your "best bet" is to "target" a type of fish you wish to catch and learn as much as you can about how to catch it.

To be good at any endeavor you must first learn the "basics" and take the time to investigate it.

Line quality and size can be very important in fishing, (too "light" and the fish breaks off; too "heavy" and you never get a bite!).

    You mentioned "salmon eggs".

I'm assuming you are Salmon fishing or Trout fishing?

Trout & Salmon are the "spookiest" fish you can try to catch in freshwater; esp in a stream/river situation. Not only must you know how to catch the target fish but you have to know how to read "current".

In Trout fishing you should NEVER have the expectation that you will be "throwing them in your cooler one after another" anyway.

The best advice? Read about what you want to catch!

Hope this helps ya? Good luck!

  8. You might be using the wrong type of bait for the area your fishing. The best advice is to go to a local bait shop and ask what they are biting on in your area. If you fish with salmon eggs here in the southeast, you surely won't catch anything...

  9. Ask alot questions at your local tackle or bait shop. Take their advice on what to use, where to fish, and how to fish the baits they suggest.
