I have had some problems around my house so I have an outside security camera and I record what goes on when I'm at work. When I play it back I have no sound. I have an older tv that is not cable ready, so Im using an rf modulator. The camera has rca plugs, I have the yellow one on the video in on the vcr and the white one on the audio in on the rf modulator. The red one is only to use if my camera came with a monitor, which it didnt, so the red plug is used to connect to the power. I have a coaxil cable from the tv to the "out" on the vcr. I can hear sound when I play a vcr tape I have bought at the store, but not when I play back the tape from the camera. I hope I have explained this well enough for someone to be able to help me. Thank You

  1. Does the security camera have a microphone and what kind of noise are you expecting to hear and if the security camera does have a microphone, was there noise going on within distance of it?

  2. Try this site that may offer a better camera for dark areas:  www.personalsafetycameras.com   They have so many specific camera products so I think they can help.  We've purchased several items from here.

  3. Are you sure the security camera records audio? If its time lapse then it almost certainly doesn't.

Sound is recorded two ways on a video tape. either in a mono mode recorded on a seperate track, or in stereo where the sound is intelaced with the video.Try switching your stereo RCA inputs around.

I am certain if I was there i could figure it out....its difficult over the internet.
