  1. You can bet that already the psychics, sooth sayer, diviners, pendulum swingers have already contected he family. Whenever there is a missing child these people offer their help and most really believe they are right.

On Wednesday, 26 January 1966 - Australia Day - the three Beaumont children left their home in Somerton Park Adelaide and caught a bus to Glenelg Beach. Every parent's worst nightmare was to follow. They never came home. Jane, aged 9, her sister Arnna, aged 7, and their 4-year-old brother Grant had vanished off the face of the earth. Although they were seen in the company of a man around the time they should have left Glenelg for home, the last confirmed sighting of them came from a postman who saw them unaccompanied by anyone. Despite a massive search and the highly publicised services of psychic Gerard Croiset, no trace was ever found.

During the first few weeks of September, 2003, Australia’s Channel 7 television screened several programmes in which clairvoyants and spiritualists made dramatic claims.

Several claims involved the supposed possible identification of suspects in unsolved murder cases.

The presentation was such that some people believed here were the answers that the police had been looking for, for many years.  Yet hard evidence was missing. While police are interested in all information brought forward, not all of it equals usable evidence that can lead to conviction.  There are potential dangers of innocent people getting caught up in unsubstantiated accusations based on supposed insight or intuition.

Over the years there have been numerous clairvoyants making dramatic claims of how they have helped police solve previously unsolvable mysteries.  Yet when the actual records are examined it has turned out to be wishful thinking, propaganda, and sometimes downright and blatant deception.

Some have played the game of publishing claims in one country of their amazing successes in another country, and then on their return vice versa, in the fairly substantial belief that such claims are rarely checked – e.g. claiming in Australia, “I helped the police in Holland solve numerous puzzling crimes”  and then on return, claiming in Holland, “I helped the police in Australia solve previously unsolved crimes.”  Generally no-one in either country would check with police authorities in the other country (or even their own) for corroborating evidence or confirmation.  It ends up being publicity to get ordinary people in for readings, consultations, attendances at meetings etc – rarely does it result in police having cases solved with the clairvoyants help.

  13. Because it is hard to know which mediums are genuine and which are not! I hate gambling so maybe I have no appreciation for this, but it seems silly to take your chances with such an important situation! I mean, it could work but it might not, and what's more that would not make them look very good to everyone else, they would say that they are a bunch of desperate crazies, and then if they were wrong they would never live it down.

It is just too darn hard to tell who is a fraud and who is for real.

  15. I am living in Australia, and the news of this beautifull little girl has reached here too...my heart aches for her and her parents...

As for the person who attacked Madelines parents, keep your oppinions to your self, we all make bad decisions sometimes, and they obviously thought it would be safe or they wouldent of done it. Dont you  think they are suffering enough? And do you think that precious little girl be she here or in the next world would appreciate you running down the two people she would of loved most in the world? Shame on you.!

Lets just hope they find her alive and well soon, and that she has not met the fate of that other pretty little girl, Jonbenet, or that of Natascha Kampusch.

Hopefully a reputable phsycic will be able to shed some light on this sad sad story.

To her family, bless you all and know we are with you.
