Question:

Why dont parents watch over their kids?

I work in a hotel, and we are having a baby shower in our meeting room, which is right across lobby. There are small children running around here, and no parents in sight. They are all in the meeting room, doing their thing.

This isn't the first baby shower that this has happened, but do the parents understand that my hotel is not a playground? Young kids (younger than 5) are climbing around on the stairs... running around... opening and closing the doors... it's very annoying to me, who is trying to work.

Every now and then if they get TOO far up on the stairs, I'll yell at them and say a nice "You guys be careful, I dont want you to fall." And then that discourages them for about 10 seconds.

WHY WONT THESE PARENTS COME GET THEIR KIDS AND PUT THEM IN THE MEETING ROOM?!?!?!

And now this woman is changing her baby on the couch, provided for customers in the lobby. Seriously, go to the bathroom and do that!

  1. you're  trying to "work" but you're  on Yahoo Answers????

  2. What exactly is your question>  Why don't you just tell them that the kids are not permitted to run around in the lobby and ask the woman to please use the restroom.

  3. Parents dont realise their kids are annoying. they are little angels in their eyes; incapable of doing any wrong

I would suggest next time you hold a baby shower just address the party with ' Hi id just like to remind everyone to keep all children in sight to avoid disturbing the other guests at the hotel, thankyou'

(i only have  experiance in waitressing so i dont know if this is appropriate for your workplace, but you could always ask your boss or a colleage on their opinion)

  4. you think that's bad i was surfing last tuesday and i nearly wiped out on this 7 y/o who was out in the ocean farr to deep, then there's a rip currant that pulls to the left so you need to know where you are and be a strong swimmer !! i was soo angry , no parents in sight , first off the area is for surfer and secondly this child could have been killed or seriously injure someone else.

  5. maybe talk to the manager and get some signs posted. some stores in my area have signs like "parents even you dont watch your kids at home, watch them here"

or some like "parents, keep your kids under control"

yea some really blatant signs but I guess these store owners are tired of the same things as you and tired of the nice signs not getting the message across.

  6. Talk to managers, owners, and so forth, about adding a "Playroom." That way, these parents can drop their kids off in there. Kind of like the ones at Ikea, haha.
