it almost sounds selfish to me that some if not most people will let the future generations die just because they wont be alive. things like changing to electric cars and stuff.

  1. OMG why didn't i think of that? maybe i should listen to that thing that repeats things like a broken record player  what is it again? oh wait its the media.......

  2. Because the entire theory is wrong. We do not impact the climate in the manner in which they would like you to believe. The sun controls the climate and we have no control over it.

  3. people just don't care because they are not well aware of the fact that they are going to face a painful and sudden death.

  4. People just don't care.

It's like the pollution from cars.  Scientists were warning that smog was bad to breathe ever since Henry Ford's time.  But no one listened.   Finally, when Los Angeles became blanketed in smog in the 1970s and people started getting lung cancer, the government finally did something.

  5. I have thought about that myself. They say Greenland and the Antarctic are both going to be melted in the next few decades. If that's not bad enough killing the polar bears in Greenland and the penguins in the Antarctic, the ice also helps bounce UV rays from the sun back into space which helps keep the heat balanced out.

Once the ice is melted it will raise the ocean level causing loss of land in coastal regions, and allowing more UV rays to not bounce back to space as the ocean absorbs them since its darker in color. So that's going to cause heat to keep going up.

It may not be for several generations that the temperature becomes extremely high, or people start dieing from it all etc., but it's a wonder more people don't care or think about future generations, even if it's just their own family generations they think about.

I don't know about others, but I don't want to live in a world where the normal temperature is 130 degrees on a good day, I wouldn't want my kids to have to, and I wouldn't want their kids or grandkids to either. If something is not put into action so people have to start doing their part several generations down in every body's family's is going to be suffering because of how self centered, selfish and from how lazy we are that we can't do just a little bit more to help out.

I know someone who lives across the street from me, it is 2/10 of a mile to the end of our street, and they use their jeep to goto a guys house right at the end when they could just walk!

[To Ryan] Most things we put into the ground break up over time once again becoming earth, but some things may never break up which means it cannot really be part of the earth again.

On another note, the earth is a self healer. However, at the rate things are going (and constantly increasing) we are poluting earth faster than it can heal it's self. With all the Co2 we cause we also destroy one of the biggest things in nature that helps reduce it, trees. So we are not only poluting the earth, we are also killing the things that earth uses to self heal its self.

I seen a show which said the earth would have 100s of years after humans were gone to completely self heal it's self. But the polluting of the environment and global warming isn't about the earth ending as much as it's about it causing the end of the human race. As you said, earth is a self healer and soon as we are gone and all the driving stops, all the factories stop etc. it will begin to heal.

But when global warming really kicks in, and people start realizing it, then it could already be to late to do anything about it and most people don't consider doing anything until it's affecting them enough too.

Additional heat can cause farmers not to be able to grow foods, causing food prices to go up even more because less will be produced. This will end up causing people to starve to death, then theirs older people who won't be able to take the heat much hotter, and more heat related deaths as it continues to get worse.

  6. because they are self sentered jerks who only think of themselves and not their grandchildren of great grandchildren - because it doesnt affect them they dont care-  they are all pricks in my mind lol

  7. People don't care because it is not effecting them right now. Some people don't realize that in the long run it is gunna effect then and their children. I think people should start realize that it may effect them and should take a stand to protect themselves and their children. I agree with u and think this is kinda selfish too.

  8. First show me some global warming not caused by solar activity. From the 1850s through 1940 we had a noticeable warming fueled by a spike in sunspots. The warmest year here was 1934, which was cooler than the average during the MWP. Then through the 40s and 50s it cooled a little bit as Co2 levels rose dramatically. It warmed slightly in the early 60s and then cooled again in the 70s bringing on the great Hansen’s first appearance on the world stage promoting Co2 as a global cooling gas that was going to drive the world into the next ice age and starve or kill most of the worlds population.

Then just as this was getting off the ground the sun spot activity jumped again and things started warming up again. So on the advice of Al Gore Mann and Hansen rewrote their whole scenario to match his alarmist book and altered the NASA temperature records to coincide with Co2 levels. This heating period ended in about 2000 with the hottest year of the cycle in 1998 well below the 1934 record year. Since then low solar activity has allowed cooling to set in and real scientists are watching carefully to see what direction temperatures are going to do. Recently Hansen, Gore and some of the other alarmists have admitted to 20 years or more of cooling before it starts warming again, but they at this point are guessing the same as anybody else!

  9. I don't care because I don't believe in Global Warming.  I have no control over natural disasters like hurricanes, tornados, floods, and earthquakes.  Last time I checked no one has control over these disasters.  I have a secret to tell you... we are all going to die at some point in life.

  10. Firstly it is human nature to question things, no matter how settled people claim it is, thats why we are were we are today. If it wasnt for great thinkers also refferred to as skeptics, we would still think the earth is flat and god made the animals. Not everyone thinks alike

"If all men think alike, no one thinks very much"

Theres nothing selfish about it, its a sign of a curious mind.

People dont care because its an uproven theory, there are many other more compelling theories that contradict it, it was much warmer in the past without all the extreme weather they predict (the polar bears never died then), the model projections are wrong already, co2 has never been shown to cause warming in the past, the signature for global warming isnt evident in the troposphere, and most of the extreme predictions are scare mongering to scare us into doing some like paying more tax, the wise question it, the sheep follow it without question.

If you kept up to date with both sides of the argument and understood the subject well you probably wouldnt be to worried either.

Solid evidence always beats a theory in my book, and when it warmer during the mediaval optimum man flourished suggesting less extreme weather, vineyards were grown in the north of england for gods sakes! Scary stuff eh! The sea never swallowed the earth back then so ignore the model projections and head line grabbers and look at the historical record. This is why I am not worried, its a natural cycle which we can not control so just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Also consider in 1975 when the climate scientist forecast a impending iceage, they predicted the same extreme weather as the IPCC yet they used cooling as the reason - seems a little odd doesnt it, it just proves that if impounding doom isnt involved the media wont cover it.

"I change my mind in light of new evidence, what sir do you do?"

  11. Because when you're dead you're dead. Global warming is natural and is blown out of proportion. Plus to be honest aren't you using energy telling us to convert to "saving the environment" when you're on the computer telling us to? I am selfish and not afraid to admit it, selfish because I'm not going to dump cash on an electric car (which is one of the dumbest things on the road) or even worry about the environment. We all have an expiration date as so does Earth. If we go because a disaster then that would be fine with me because I know life is not guaranteed everyday and death is inevitable.

  12. Well, consider the damage that has been done, and how did it.

You've had the new age enviromentalist movement cone in like gangbusters declaring that the world was ending and we needed to do something NOW. never mind that we've been aware of pollution since the 70's and things have been getting better for decades, they've been led on by this stupid emotional c**p of Al Gore's and his supporters.

Not to mention that Al Gore is a politician, not a scientist, not even someone that's good at crunching numbers. That he's been living as a hipocrite while whining about the planet. That he's getting rich by "trading" carbon credits..not reducting them. Meanwhile on the reality front, there's been no actual proof that global warming is a problem, or that co2 causes any significant effect in the equation.

And we are being pushed and forced to use ethanol in our gas..which is heavily subsidized (meaning we pay for it at the pump, and with our tax dollars behind the scenes), its inefficient as a fuel and has caused the price of corn to skyrocket from $2 a bushel to $8.

We've had supposed experts crying about polar bears dying...which was in large part a lie, had alarmists claiming the polar ice caps are melting....and this to them was an abnormality in their 30 to 50 years on this planet.....but then they neglected to tell the rest of us about the sub-oceanic volcanoes.

Simply put, people stopped caring as soon as the evidence didn't point in one direction and was a for sure write off when people were caught lying about this supposed crisis, forcing bad policies and introducing the politics of corruption.

Don't you find it odd that the democrats historically have lead America down certain paths of disaster so they can ride in and claim they will fix the problem....all you have to do is pay more taxes or authorize them to infringe on your liberties a little. They've incrementally stepped right into all of our lives and become offensive and intrusive.

Nancy Pelosi is bought in on the T Boone Pickens plan for windmills, but no one calls her on it while she's acting as the house speaker and democratic led initiative to prevent us drilling for our own oil. The democratically controlled congress has kept us dependant on foreign markets without regard to national security or preserving our way our life. Congress in general hasn't done the people's work much at all. Check out what they do in a month, precious little justifies them sitting in Washington.

Wave generator technology is fine...but Ted Kennedy says he doesn't want to see it. I guess the poor have no choice to put a nuclear reactor in thier back yard while the rich get their way on capitol hill.

The whole process is corrupt. Energy shouldn't be politicized, or dictated by societies classes. We shouldn't have companies in the private sector being limited by congress then demonized cuz gas at the pump is too high. Government is the problem...not the cure... and out congress has been shiftless to do anything for anyone but themselves.

There are many such reason's why people just don't care anymore, because you can't prove anything has changed or will cause a disaster in the future. Hansen from NASA claimed we only had 20 years left......20 years later he's wrong. Another scientist said the oceans only had 10 years....... They are still there and the same.

I'm not saying to go out and pollute with wreckless abandon, but you have to separate the hype from reality. You want a real problem to worry about, look at the economy. I'm not talking the downturn, i'm talking the deficeit. I'm talking the $54 Trillion we will owe the baby boomers in benfits that we don't have, largely because the social security fun has been raided by politicians and paid in IOU's. IOU's do'nt earn interest.

  13. Gosh, gee whilikers. You're absolutely right. There should be a law or something.

  14. The earth has been through much worst in its past then some plastic bottles in the ground. The earth is a self healer. It will aid itself and get rid of all the bad. Its been here this long. I really dont see it self destructing b/c of global warming anytime soon. After all we did make plastic from materials the earth gave us. Think about that. The earth was here before human existence and will remain here after human existence. we dont have to worry about killing earth.

  15. the main reason is that people think what is there if i alone do.its incorrect, if government will keep some strict rules, then they will know the importance about global warming and they will change activity habits.
