Why dont people draft Tom Brady as the number 1 pick?

I know the golden rule to draft RB's first but if you look at the fantasy points. Tom Brady is way ahead of anyone, its not even close. (the next 3 are also QBs)

Still, RB's are key in Fantasy Football. And plus Tom Brady is hurt. And so is Peyton.

Let's just say he does get the most points. In a standard league, you need 1 QB as opposed to 3 RBs. I'd rather have LT, who might get slightly less points. You can get Garrard late and he'll get as many points as a good RB drafted way sooner.

For example, if you were in a wierd league where you start 3 QBs and 1 RB, then Brady would be the #1 pick, then Manning, Romo, Brees, Palmer, Hasselbeck, they'll all be 1st round picks.

You shouldn't take points into account. You should take the position eligibility and how much you need of each position. Also, RB goes thin quickly and QB is deeper. I'd take LT, Westbrook, Peterson, SJax, Addai, Lynch, Barber, Moss, and someone else ahead of Brady eventhough Brady might get more points.

different people have diff philosophies on how to draft. most people follow the first rule you said and thats why they prefer LT or AP over Brady.

T.Brady-ADP=6,projected fantasy points=356

MJD-----ADP=33,projected fantasy points=199

L.Tomlinson-ADP=1 projected fantasy points=300

D.Brees-------ADP=38 projected fantasy points=309

Which tandem would you want?These players are relatively close in ADP (average draft position).I'd rather have Brees+LT because RBs' talent drops off much quicker then QBs' talent.Plus if you add up the points for each pair LT+Brees wins,609 to 555.(I don't make this stuff

EDIT- I like Brady alot,and traded C.Palmer+Jamal Lewis for him in my 10 team league..But I still have my RBs (Westbrook+Gore) to keep me competitive at that position.

Because nobody drafts quaterbacks first, it is simply not done.  Runningbacks are the most important position and because of that they are picked first.

Quarterbacks get a lot of points but Tom Brady also has a hurt foot which really isnt a big deal as much as the fact that drafting qbs number one isnt done.
