  1. Ask people who live in Florida.

  2. why would you go to a baseball game when you can listen to it on the beach?  plus its hot... plus its a football stadium... they have fans, they just don't go to the games. Plus they don't spend a lot of money so there is little loyalty built up between players and fans to ownership.

  3. Cause only old people live in Florida.

  4. The reason that there is not many people who go to the Marlins game is because it rains a lot and  is hot. Believe me if you lived in Miami you would understand that it's just not comfortable going to games. The marlins television ratings are about 15th in the Majors  and that means that people are watching from their homes in Miami. The new stadium will prevent long rain delays and create a pleasant atmosphere for people who go to games. In the past, it has also been the owners fault for not filling the stadium. The owner is cheap and could dismantle this current team and the fans are clearly not happy whenever this happens.

  5. THE guy before explained it right.  FL is a transplant state.  There are probably more NY yankees or Cubs fans there than Rays or Marlins fans.  They don't draw for the Heat either anymore.  It's has a good following of football fans, professional and college.

  6. No, it won't. Florida has always had a terrible fanbase.

  7. Florida is a huge football zone, Everyone is crazy bout the Canes, or the Nole's, or the Gator's, or of course the Dolphins, so there fan base is already smaller. Then we top it off by their owner gutting their WS championship team, and not letting the fans really get a sense of what their team is all about, and what style of game to expect from them, and you get disinterest and even smaller numbers. Then you add into it the fact that this is Florida, where there is tons of other things to do on a beautiful summer day, and you get  alot fewer fans, and finally the fact that many Florida residents move down there to retire, and already have a favorite teams, they have watched there entire lives, and won't root for the local team, they would rather go watch their favorite team in Winter Ball. So you get a brand new baseball team, invading a football crazy state, and when they do well and have a chance to build a major following by winning the WS, the owner dismantles the team back into mediocrity, why wouldn't you go to the beach, or to watch the Yankees play at Uncle Sid's condo?

  8. all of the above.

  9. Their prolly tired of seeing dontrelle willis lose games, they blow major as of late!

  10. Its cause the Marlins are quite frankly just boring to watch

  11. Miami is a bad sports town.

Dolphin Stadium is a lousy venue for baseball.

Many teams have spring training in Florida, and many Florida residents are transplants, so some Floridians have allegiances to other teams.

Attendance was hurt somewhat by the dismantling of the 1997 championship team.

A new stadium will not dramatically improve attendance, at least not after the first year or two. The proposed stadium would have a low seating capacity, so they aren't even pretending that attendance will suddenly skyrocket. A new stadium would help, but most likely, the Marlins would remain in the bottom five in attendance after the first year.

  12. it rains too much they should have a ruff like the rays. its florida it always rains there
