  1. they do both.

    thats kind of the point.

  2. they do, um what does juke mean? If its like a step then yeh they do, they backs anyway but it's a bit harder for a massive 120kg prop too.

  3. Often times they do try and juke.

Sometimes it is just a better idea to go into contact.

If you are continuously winning rucks and mauls while advancing the ball, it is probably a good idea to make the contact.

  4. Of course they juke/step people and they do other moves as well......This is primarily something the backs would do but I have seen some forwards that are pretty shifty...(the blonde headed flanker for the cheetahs) But unlike American Football where you have blocking and are always going for either a first down or td, in rugby players will purposely run into a tackle to set up a supporting teammate for a good pass that would result in a continuation of play  or the next phase. By phase we mean the ball carrier is tackled and his supporting teammates ruck to ensure possession of the ball. Think about it as a no huddle and play starts when the ball is picked up (snapped) by the scrumhalf or whoever does it. These phases are done purposely so that the back-line can set themselves of for a set play piece or maybe giving the flyhalf time to set up for a drop goal...Every single player on the field has moves..but some notable players whom you can see video footage on youtube are sean williams from wales, brian habana from south africa, jason robinson from england, joe rocokoko from NZ, takudza ngwenya from the usa, and pretty much everyone who is from fiji..

P.S. idk what kind of rugby you were watching when you asked this question.. its sorta like saying how come no one ever crosses over in basketball. of course people do it just not everyone.
